it's a shame they pulled this, i just watched through it and it's a good episode.
Moon Girl has been very good about these issues but I wish I could say I didn’t expect this out of Disney
i dont know this cartoon but thats total shit so replurking to boost
fucking cowards. that was great.
"just because you can do something alone, doesn't mean you should have to". I'm pretty much canon blind past this episode but i was really touched by the immediate backup to the main character of this episode. from the coach to her friends.
"am i burden to you all for being who i am [trans]?" and the answer she gets is an immediate and resounding Absolutely Not
i really wish this would air.
two things stood out to me: "when the game is rigged, playing by the rules won't work" and the enemy coach's daughter being totally cool
(also that retro videogame sequence was delightful)
oh man, yes! absolutely.
mom may be a transphobic trashfire but her daughter, her successor, has her head on straight
I really recommend the show for those who are coming in blind! It's a really heartwarming and empowering piece of media that does a great job with its representation being really well done and natural
with fantastic characters, art direction, and overall vibes
that's a good hopeful note
yeah! it's not my usual genre at all but I enjoyed it a lot
the framing of the antagonist here as being the Odd One Out on this issue is fabulous. because it's not "the world is like this", it's "people like this are like this".
it's very clearly a Her Problem
This is definitely the formula of the show, it’s very powerful and feel good. you really like the main character, her goofball bestie, and her t-Rex child.
And this is coming from someone who really doesn’t like Disney Marvel, I believe in exceptions
Devil is a big goober and I want to hug him
yeah i'm surprised how much I liked MG. Also it's tangentially connected to the MCU so it might unironically be one of the best parts of the MCU
Not familiar with the show but that was a fun episode!
I do wonder a little how much the decision to pull it was due to having a trans character and how much was due to it validating trans anger and rejection of discriminatory rules
it should have gone to air regardless, of course, but I could see where this would fall afoul of censors where a milder feel good "acceptance" message wouldn't.
moon girl's a fantastic show. the best ep of s1 involved a white couple trying to gentrify the lower east side which culminated in them literally silencing the voices of the residents (through special noise canceling devices) but they all rose up to help moon girl beat them
they tackle really good topics and have such a diverse cast and it's just. so!! fucking frustrating!! seeing disney crumble like this and lock this episode away
especially considering the villain literally locks brooklyn and her supporters away in a digital prison like. way to actually be the villain of the episode, disney lmao
GOD this episode was beautiful.
disney is well known for choosing cowardice in the face of conflict
It’s so upsetting to see something so powerful be buried under fear of bigots
