My suspicion is landlords in the area kinda backed themself into a corner when they all raised rent by like 35% a couple years ago. Any further increase and no one would be able to afford it.

But yes, another year without having to move is the cause for much rejoicing. I like this place a lot, and given my aging doggo, I like having a first floor unit.
