[work] things that irritate the GP: the psychiatrist who sends the newly diagnosed ADHD patient with a list and asking the GP to fiddle around and find out what works. No dude, that's YOUR job, not mine.

this is the... third? fourth? patient that has come back with a letter like this "gp can do it" while yes, techincally I can, psychiatric meds are not my area of speciality
you can't just give me a list of 5 different meds and go "try them on one of these and see what happens"
especially when all of them are restricted drugs which need permits to prescribe
do your fucking job and put them on something, trial them until you're happy they're managed and then absolutely, sure, send them back and I will apply for a permit to prescribe
but drug swapping and titration is ABSOLUTELY NOT my job
it's that literally their job? they're supposed to be the experts on mental health medication
and sometimes you can't just take one medication, you have to fine tune a cocktail of various ones
