6, 13 and 21 for any of yours?
Ilphyl's first, then we go to my cast in Caldera and the RNG.
1. Cuddles are great, but Ilphyl will ask explicitly from friends, in a way that seems stilted and a bit on the spectrum. Because while they adore platonic affection, they are very aware of how changeable the norms around that are, and want to be clear about their intentions.
Romantic affection is easier here, in that people are usually cool about the idea that a SO might want to touch their partner.
(They will also offer cuddles while in wild shape, but only if that person knows that it is Ilphyl. Sometimes touching fur is just better than touching hair/skin, but Ilphyl also knows that it gets weird when you remember that the person in question is normally an elf.)
3. Some of the same applies to hugs. Hugs are great! Norms around hugs vary a lot! Ilphyl has stopped giving a shit about if asking is weird.
18. Honestly, the easiest way to fluster Ilphyl is 'this is pleasant, but I have no idea what to do with it'. It's hard to think of an example.
24. Ilphyl bonds hard to outcasts, or people outside of social norms for whatever reason. They seem to have a knack for dealing with people with discordant aging as well, perhaps because they are an elf.
Like, by drow standards, they are ‘close enough’ to being an adult, by elf standards they should get a few more decades of adolescence, and by human standards, they were born at the same time as their friends’ parents or grandparents. (Also generally other trans or NB characters.)
Also, if you like ‘weird’ animals, Ilphyl likes you. They are entirely the sort of person who will pick up a banana slug to show it to someone. Someone has to be the druid for weird invertibrates.
6. Zelgadis is the sort of person who is ‘I am clearly tolerating this, but I want to complain’ about holding hands for no reason, and might actually enjoy it if it’s with someone he likes.
(Not even romantically — in Slayers TRY, Jillas attempts to sow discord in the group by insisting that the episode’s McGufifin is part of some marriage temple, so the characters need to pair up. Zelgadis and Lina end up having to walk arm in arm up the mountain, and the two clearly think this is stupid, but are having fun joking about being married.)
13. Simon is fine with borrowing clothing, though it would probably have to be his husband’s, not his wife’s. I don’t think he considers it a particularly intimate gesture — more ‘I don’t have my wardrobe built up, Pat, can I borrow something’. He is totally the sort who will offer his cloak to people who need it.
(Shirt is more awkward; Simon has a lot of scars that he would rather not acknowledge.)
21. Bell gets the last one. Bel is exactly the sort of person who likes to find out exactly what someone else wants and carry out an elaborate plan to get them that, assuming it wouldn’t be considered ‘too much’. (Finding out what is ‘too much’ is part of the plan.)
He has no idea what to do if someone tries to spoil him and it’s not some kind of ‘I did these things for you without asking, so now you owe me’. Like, he believes that plenty of people don’t have that mindset, but… not sure what to do once he knows ‘no this is just them being kind without obligation’.
If Ilphyll has a knack for 'people with discordant aging', could be interesting to have them learn about Link's 100 year nap sometime then XD
Yep. Granted, that just means Link is chronologically the age he looks by elf standards.
Like, Link already wins points by showing Ilphyl some very excellent lizards (which may get to be breeding pairs in Ilphyl's tiny houseboat, because they don't really need a kitchen).)
Haha well, Ilphyll turned Link into a HORSE, so like. That's just all of the points right there
Link will give them all the lizards they want
