Cactaurs do at least exist ingame, they're starter enemies right outside Ul'dah

I know at least in the original translations of 6-8 it was Malboro probably due to a combo of transliteration and poking fun at cigarette companies
yeah I heard that too, I'm just wondering why both names are being used in one game, even if one of them is just for a server name
