(and if you feel inclined: misty, 56; Shaw, 22)
As always
me and Fives both, please, 47 and 55
Yes, please: me, 42 (and Sweeney, 3; if you're feeling it)
oh, I love these. Will, 33, please!
For you, Iddy, the Influence of the Angels Tarot:
(btw, I got that Fox Universe self-care tarot for myself and I love it :3)
Judgement, 9 of Swords, 8 of Wands
which is a very OH SHIT, uhhh DO IT SCARED kind of spread
Judgement is for transformation, destruction and rebirth, reckoning but also rising, here as the literal resurrection. Rise up!
and the Eight of Wands is all about seizing brief opportunities, go go go, charge
and the Nine of Swords in the middle is a card of terror and nightmares - and it's not a card about either overcoming or succumbing but like, acknowledgement
yes, this thing is terrifying - or just painful. the nine of swords can also be sorrow, and this one leans into that - the fallen lamb, the ravens, the angel coming to the crying ewe
so I think this reading is like: fear and sorrow and grief are real, but they're part of life and not some separate space that bars you from it; breathe deep and rise and go forward
love and strength to you <3
I GUESS WE'RE STARTING OF WITH A BANG TONIGHT
me 62, Angel 16, please <3
I think I'm gonna do the first one for each person and then circle back around and see how I feel about that!
For Jay, the Onyx Tarot:
Six of Cups, Two of Cups, Four of Pentacles
this reads to me as a very hopeful, gentle, loving warning
the Six and Two of Cups are both very much about joy in different forms
the Six in terms of past joy and nostalgia, the Two about loving, trusting, supportive relations with other people (in this case, I think especially your daughters). joys old and new, friends old and new
the 4 is a card of material security and it usually reads as a warning against greed, against hoarding, but for you it feels to me like - you've been through so much privation, but in the last few years, finally getting some of the payments y'all were always owed, Bad Aunt leaving the household and so on, things have improved, and I think this reading
is sort of saying, like...let yourself find those old joys and trust in those strengthening bonds as the spawn become independent adults who relate to you in new ways
and even though it's hard, try not to let the very understandable fear of privation stop you from enjoying those things you do have
/grips you tight by the shoulders: treat yourself a little. you can now, it's okay
oh fuck, now I'm crying >.<
I have been living in terror these last few months, waiting for the election to send my world crumbling, and withdrawing more and more from everything
/hugs you from across the land
I don't believe in this stuff at all, and yet you and
yarnzipan always manage to use these readings to tell me something that I know but don't let myself believe, or need to know
it's the silliest comparison in the world, but recently I was watching an improv comedy show, and one of the prompts was like "film students go apeshit theorizing about a water bottle that was left in the shot accidentally"
and of course they were OFF LIKE A SHOT, nonstop, 100% plausible deep theme analysis about disposability and exploitation and so on and so on
and I realized that for me Tarot is kind of like that - taking random chance and letting the pretentious Film Crit Kid in my head just go ham on a bunch of rich storied symbols, guided by empathy
LOL, well it sure as hell works well for you
and I think there's a lot of value in that. letting ourselves think deeply and symbolically about the big things with a few touchpoints to find a direction
anyway, I'm glad it helps <3
For Brandi, the ever popular Mushroom Forager Tarot:
Empress (pink oyster) Emperor (King Bolete) and 8 of Wands (Witch's Butter)
as a side note, when I went to try and shuffle the deck, which is a little big for my hands, these three cards popped right out of the middle. which I always take as a sign BECAUSE WE'RE LEANING IN
also, wild to get the 8 of Wands again. big stuff happening for lots of us i guess!!!
anyway, we've got really strong both feminine and masculine energy, from the Empress (delicious, abundant, easy to cultivate ad nurture) and the Emperor (impossible to cultivate, much sought after, large and powerful, laws and guards often get involved when they're found growing wild) leading into the powerful action of the 8 of Wands
which feels to me like it's saying, not that the Empress and Emperor are in conflict, but that you need to bring your whole self to the endeavor facing you
kill the cringe inside your head, kill the fear of trying hard and failing and let yourself really go for it without holding back
the legends around Witch's Butter say that it's residue left by witches after casting a hex or a smell, and you can remove the spell by poking a hole in the fungus to dehydrate it - or reactivate its power by hydrating it again
which brings an element of resilience to a card that's often about a very fleeting moment. seize your magic!
That's amazing, thank you so much! Also, I totally read Lenormand that way when the cards fall/snag, so that's especially neat to me
For Seph, the Ether Tarot:
Judgement (AGAIN), Page of Wands, 9 of Cups
this a really encouraging spread!
Judgement is, as noted above, a card of powerful culmination, transition, and rebirth
this deck emphasizes the waking aspect of it - a situation has been building for a long time, and now it's time to See the Truth of what's going on and face it, and the other two cards follow on from there
the Page of Wands is a card that's hugely about potential
action and drive but also a little bit not knowing what you're doing. i've heard some people call it the adhd card. our page has got his walking boots and his flaming staff and he's ready to go!!! go where?? well, uh -
but the 9 of Cups is a card of fulfillment, success, joy. it's a Getting What You Want Card
So overall I think this is saying: don't be daunted. there's a lot!!! you might feel scattered by you have the energy you need to make a start, and figuring this out will be worth it
This is a very beautiful deck!
And I always love how tarot art are so expressive and interpretive.
(1-67.... Are those the number of your decks?)
I HAVE. perhaps a small problem
but the Ether deck is definitely lovely, it might be one of my oldest ones
but they're all pretty and they bring you joy
i gotta send my parents some etsy links and not buy any more until christmas
For Will, the vaguely named but beautiful linocut style Light Visions Tarot:
The Hanged Man, 7 of Chalices, The High Priestess
WHICH LIKE. almost annoyingly straightforward, as a journey from being kind of a passenger in his own life, in turbulent waters full of pirahnas, through the card of maybe-overwhelming choices, to the card of intuition
head barely above water, and then rising out of it through all the waves and eddies, to walking his own course
from being surrounded by teeth, to choosing what fruit to carry with him, and what pomegranates to leave behind
I feel like this reading is just saying "you have asked about: WILL GRAHAM. THIS IS WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE"
that shadow is still walking with him, but it's falling behind him, and he's walking forward
also I feel the need to say: not ever card in this deck has water themed art!!! that's just the story here!!!
also, I'm glad you're enjoying Fox Universe!!!
Lol, looks like the go really decided to go with the theme. XD
For Devon, one of my Favorite decks, the tarot of Unknown Shadows:
oh wow, I love this. so straightforward. :3 like "here you go."
hilariously this was the very first time I used that deck
like. a first grader going OH I KNOW THIS ONE
anyway, back to Unknown Shadows! Six of Wands, Ace of Coins (Reversed), Four of Cups (Reversed)
this is a really interesting read, especially for someone who I know has been Going Through It a little bit lately
the Six of Wands is very much a card of victory
not just success but winning, superiority, triumph. and this deck emphasizes victory for the Ace of Coins as well, which is reversed here
Ace of Coins more typically is about a new chance for support and growth - here, reversed, not merely missed but lost, maybe taken away through absolutely no fault of yours. a door closed
and the 4 of Cups, also reversed here, is usually a card about being bored with success, stagnating a little, maybe the urge to move on when something that was once satisfying no longer is
and that's all a pretty messy soup!
hahaha messy soup sounds very appropriate <3
the way I read it, I think this is saying - woof, there's been some ups and downs, huhn? maybe this is a good time to really think about what success would mean to you, what would actually make you feel, not just superior, like you were winning the right points, but like you were on the road to your best life.
there's victories and losses - what kind of victory do you want the next one to be?
because you're worth finding the real answer to that question
i like that <3 <3 <3 thank you, and lol you have another crier
i am a sympathetic crier across time and space i gues
Back to the top!! for Misty we have the Spiritsong Tarot:
which is a very gentle and optimistic deck - it kind of gives all the traditionally Bad Cards a more positive spin
oooh, that one's SO pretty
nevertheless!!! we've got Five of Crystals, The Ladybug (Five of Pentacles), the Four of Shells, the Crane (Four of Cups), and the Knight of Crystals, the Camel (Knight of Pentacles)
which, traditionally, the Fives are often kind of a 'dark turn' crisis midpoint of the suits, and the Five of Pentacles is typically about poverty, loss, lack of support, and the Four of Cups, as mentioned above, as being about kind of stagnating in what looks from the outside like success
THESE ARE NOT THE FIVE OF PENTACLES AND FOUR OF CUPS, though. they're the Five of Crystals and the Four of Shells
where the Ladybug is for illuminating a path through times of stress and worry, and the Crane is about patience, keen eyes, re-evaluation and re-discovery
the Knights are all about momentum, an active agent bringing the suit forth, but for crystals/pentacles, associated with prosperity, it's a little steadier, building something to last, and the camel leans into that, is about determination and endurance. a very "rome wasn't built in a day" card
Misty is reeling a little bit! she's maybe been kind of Getting By for a while as a warden, and Walter's Whole Thing has proved that she doesn't have the kind of support she maybe thought she had there. and that sucks!!! but she has the strength and resilience to move through this moment out of the shock and also out of the rut she was maybe in a little bit
for Shaw, another of my very favorites, the Fountain Tarot:
Death, Page of Cups, Four of Swords
something big has changed - maybe external, maybe only internal, but it's okay to not know how to deal with the New Normal right away. it's okay to take some time for it
I fuckin love this Death, that spooky dog in the woods looks so confused
and the starkness of the dark and the white
and then the page of cups which is usually a very like, volatile card, a card of Youth and Emotion and Creativity and everything being all loosey goosey
but here I feel like it almost reads like it's speaking to the ways Shaw is Young at Emotions
that swirling shining water of all the messy feelings is being kept right in that little box. we're dealing with One Cup at a time
just poking a little. seeing what's in there
and then the 4 of Swords is a card of like...rest, waiting, healing. pausing because you need to hit pause sometimes, and that's okay
put up your swords and sit in your safe comfort zone for a while if you need to!!!
aaaaa i love all of these; they're all so fitting (including mine; i did the request and hopped offline immediately for a couple hours but damn that really is my life rn lol)
i always want to do things slowly and tentatively!! hate charging forward except in very specific circumstances!!!
i am also executively deciding that this is The Universe(tm) telling me that going ahead with adopting cats was a solid plan
GO WITH ANGELS!!! get kitties :3
For Fives, the Spacious Tarot:
The Magician, Nine of Wands, Four of Swords
Fives. Fives. buddy. pal. friendo. get some fuckin rest
balance is hard and the journey is long and rest is important
He can rest when he's dead!
the magician is a card of mastery of all 4 elements, of knowledge and drive and passion and properity, but also is about juggling and balancing everything needed for the work. the 9 of wands is about earning rest after long and difficult journeys, needing and taking it, and the 4 of swords is about pausing and sleeping and healing
MAYBE SIT DOWN ON A BENCH AND WATCH A SLOW SUNRISE OVER THE SNOW AND YOU'LL FEEL BETTER
working until you drop will not actually fix the thing where you miss your family. it's okay to feel that and you're allowed to sleep in when you've died with no four year olds who need breakfast
and it doesn't mean you miss them less
sounds fake
for Sweeney, the OG, the Alleyman Tarot:
the Fool, the Hanged Man (reversed), the Four of Swords
also lmao the 4 of Swords THREE TIMES IN A ROW, with THREE DIFFERENT DECKS
literally @ everyone on the barge: REST
Also, hell yes for Alleyman
gonna actually start in the middle though because "the hanged man never intends to be hanged by his foot. space bubble cat didn't PLAN on being in a bubble...in reverse, the impatience is oft too fuckin much. we don't want to be held up like this"
poor sweeney!! he's been stuck for awhile and he's despaired of it, chafed at it, worked for it, and he's still on this space bubble!! WHAT GIVES
but also i love, after our discussions of the sun and stars, that this space bubble cat hanged man is presided over by a shining star here
that energy is still there with him even as he's struggling with the ways he's trapped
I was going to note my surprise at the lack of a sun/king card like he normally ends up with, but absolutely.
in the alleyman deck, this four of swords goes into a little more of a psychological meaning - sometimes we seek sanctuary from our own self-doubts, sometimes we isolate or don't try as a way to protect ourselves, but it's us imposing our own fears on what's possible
and that's contrasted with the fool, that warning-celebration of naivete
you might be about to step off a cliff, but you've can't hang out on the precipice forever, you've got to take a step, and it's worth embracing the naive, to renew as the world renews
and I think this reading is kind of showing two paths for sweeney - he can retreat into that self doubt, that old fearful "it's been so long and I'll never get it" feeling, or he can embrace "who the hell knows how this works" and take that blind leap
The constant struggle
I really appreciate the reads
For Wu Xin, the only non-tarot deck I have on the list, the Witch's Familiar Runic Oracle:
Ingwaz is a rune of like....gathering power before acting, protective, possibly sacrifical
Wunjo is a rune of bright, clear joy in the present moment
and Uruz is a rune of strength and force of will and overcoming
this is a strong reading of encouragement, of finding the strength inside himself and then manifesting it toward his goals
for Angel Dust, another of my very favorites, the vivid Dream Visions Tarot:
Ten of Wands, the Magician, Knight of Wands
which is really interesting!
the Ten of Wands is a card of Too Much Fucking Work
of being exhausted by duties and responsibilities
long journeys with heavy burdens
and it's so easy to see him being flighty and flirty and hedonist and not think of him in those terms at all, to see his problems as all as addiction and hedonism and self-destruction and bad taste in men....but also...like...Sex Work is Work
so much of why he's burnt out and self-medicating and has the self-worth and addiction issues that he does is because he's had a literal nightmare boss for decades who's exploited him and made him literally work like hell
Girl You Don't Need A Therapist You Need a Union
(maybe you need a therapist AND a union)
anyway, that big reframing of his problems leads into the magician, a card of seeking balance as the path to mastery over the forces of your own life
and the knight of wands, a card of passion and drive
seize the means of production! seize the camera! do the work that excites YOU - doing things that feel meaningful, having agency and concrete victories, is just as important on his path as the more internal nebulous parts of personal growth, and he's going to need both
that could not be more perfect <3
it's SUCH a beautiful deck, god
anyway spiritually i'm giving you both a hug
<3 <3 <3 you are awesome for doing these <3 <3 <3 and so nice~
and I have to justify having 67 decks somehow sldgnsdgs
Missed a lot of readings abdomen scrolling through now, but these decks are really so gorgeous. (lol, everyone needs a rest on the Barge, that tracks.)
..... Abdomen, what the heck mobile. "But I'm^"
I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets really bizarre autocorrupts
oh I love this and I've missed it, but if the spirit moves you when you wake up, 47 please
Fuzzytale: funny enough there's a significant number of readers who don't see anything mystical about it so much as letting the random chance and the symbols make you think about things you might not have thought of, literally acting as a second opinion to make you more easily think through your own. A little like how tossing a coin makes you suddenly know
which side you actually want it to land on a lot of the time. Just a tool for self-reflection.
yarnzipan: huh, cool! And, I mean, you guys have sure given me some good readings that made me think about or look at things differently <3
thanks! Putting it on my wish list to consider at some nebulous point in the future when I might have the brain for reading it
"tarot as therapy" is really interesting spin
it's tomorrow, I've done grocery stopping, and I'm still in the mood, so!
For Liz, the Onyx Tarot once again:
Strength, the King of Cups (reversed), the 8 of Pentacles
got distracted but i'm back!
there's some really interesting visual symmetry here, with Strength and the 8 of Pentacles both on solid ground, and the King of Cups between them, upended with his head in the clouds
Sebastian, 10 (if you're still inspired, that is)?
the King of Cups is a culmination of emotion, mastery and...repleteness? and here it's reversed, overwhelming, emotional turmoil
and then you have Strength, a card of spiritual endurance and resilience and holding-on, moving-through, and the 8 of Pentacles, a card of care and craft and good work
I'm not sure if the turmoil from the King is something you're currently dealing with, or something coming your way (maybe just Holiday Morbs, I know those can get you) but this reading is saying that you have the inner strength to get through it to the other side, like you have so many times before
and giving yourself the time and space and energy to do the things you find fulfilling is the way through
#10 gives Sebastion the MEME CAT tarot
Strength, the Hanged Man, the Moon
Strength and the Hanged Man both speak to his struggles with his graduation journey, I think - he's been trying, he's been enduring, he can put up with anything he needs to but what is it getting him
he's been patient but he still feels stuck, feels like it's out of his control, like he's trapped, just hanging
and then we come to the MOON - the card that bridges the gap between the distant hope of the star, and the bright success of the sun
a card of secret fears, dreams, and longings, but also a card of stories and illusions
i do very much get the morbs but I sailed through October this year so I'm feeling pretty resilient
and I think for Sebastian, I think the cats wailing at the moon here are like....acknowleding those inner doubts, but also showing a more nontraditional path
Strength, endurance, resilience, that's what he's been doing, not the way forward. the way forward is stories and dreams
it's not a card of pain or loss or sacrifice, OR a card of victory and virtue. it's the changeable-unchanging moon, that appears to change but also doesn't
and I think for Sebastian, it's less that he has to change fundamental things about himself that feel impossible to change, as that he has to write himself a new role in the story
he's so committed to Playing His Part, and that's okay! illusions are important!
but exactly the parameters of that game, that challenge, that story, could be a little different
Thank you! Now I like to imagine a professional, client-facing psychic somewhere is using this deck with a straight face.
And I don't remember the exact deck and cards he got the first time you did a reading for him, but I remember it was a miserable-looking deck with a miserable reading... so that's a nice change.
he had the Fuzzbox Tarot which is a wild one
but it's hard to argue with the tower bang in the middle
Nightmare-looking deck
Name: ✿ ✿ Fuzzbox ✿ ✿ :3
...Also how do you remember that so readily.
oh I have all my old tarot plurks liked so I can find them again for nostalgia reasons lol
and I think the name of it comes out of an old 60s-70s punk piece of gear for distorting guitar sound
and all the art in the deck is using over-exposed or double-exposed photos and cut up and collaged punk style
it's not necessarily a dark deck but it's a very feral one imo
I find it hilarious that Sebastian ended up very the cat deck.
are you still willing to do one more by chance
what number? and for you or a character?
Harry, 41?
Harry gets the Muppet Tarot:
The Heirophant, The World, the Wheel of Fortune
my guy, you're in for a ride
bring all the voices along, you're gonna need'em
Dr. Bunsen's insane inventions feel so apt for Harry, and oh boy is he stepping into a whole new!!! world and life and everything!! but also I love the Wheel as Pizza
yeah there's gonna be hard times and good times and just TIMES ahead
but go ahead and take a big ol bite out of life while you can
oh my god that's so fucking incredible
genuinely I love this on every level
ride that joy eat the whole fucking pizza live your best life!!
i was like. did you sneak a look at my list somehow
did i accidentally include it in a shot
41 is his precinct number 8'D
did you deduce that Muppet would be one step above Mushroom alphabetically???
I'm like 90% sure there's fanart of this
