I know Wen Ning is probably out, but he'll have that in his inbox when he wakes. XD
And the more widespread Emoji begins....
completely unfathomable, thanks, buddy
Debated on putting this up in November, but figured the network was better for early.
Okay. State of RP. Wu Xin is feeling comfortable on the barge, absolutely loves it in fact. His pairing with Will was great even though they haven't done much before the event blew up.
But he's settling in very well, which is counterintuitive to his graduation.
Recent events did make him doubt his reasons for being here a bit and caused him a bit of internal questioning and depression. You know, just emo teen being a teen.
So he's probably going to be secretly emo until he finds someone to get that out of his system. He's also very friendly with animals and still doesn't know that the animals he might have been talking to are shape shifters. He really does believe there's a pack of wives hiding on the ship somewhere.
There aren’t enough women on the ship for there to be a pack of wives. /cymbal riff
............... Omfg.
Mobile clearly thinks Wu Xin wouldn't be a monk.
.... shouldn't. Omg mobile!!
Oh, sorry! No, I've got the thread tracked, but thanks for the offer! I just ran out of steam for a bit.
Okay, now that I'm on the computer and not let my mobile rewrite my posts, I can write a bit more things here.
So RSotRP is pretty much non-existent since Wu Xin isn't really a monk, but he's as monkish as they come. He's got potential because he's not against it, but there's not much chance of him getting hooked up with anyone unless things go really sideways during an event of some sort. He's having trouble knowing how to even make friends, so romance isn't likely.
Which, for friends wise, he managed to make a few, although still with no idea how he did that. He wasn't trying, and the one he thought he was trying with wants to break his nose (That would be you, Cain. Btw, Cain's definitely pinged in that friendly CR post
hardtostarboard).
That aside though, he's in a good place overall despite his current mild emo moment after the crazy violence that he's feeling a little backlash from. Ripping bodies apart didn't bother him as much as he thought it should, which he's feeling a bit concerned about. Which means it really did affect him, and he's just not really recognizing it that way.
He's doing better than he was doing. If Cain wasn't willing to spend time near him he wouldn't.
hardtostarboard: To be fair, Cain would have been mean to make an offer about helping people then turn him down because it was him.
He's within his rights to turn down anyone he wants to xD
Yeah he has his reasons for that
Wu Xin seemed earnest in this request at least so he gave him a chance.
oh, I did not! There is a thesis? XD
It was on the warden ledger.
Poor Malcolm is not the favorite warden for a lot of inmates.
aaaah, I have that tracked by I maared all the recent updates b/c there were A Lot and brain
I'll have to go back and find them
and no, nor for a lot of other wardens, poor guy
he's very earnest, but in a way that just rubs SO many people absolutely the wrong way
Lol, I think having Will kind of beats all of them anyway. XD
you know, I've seen VERY few posts or threads involving Will ever
I'm hogging him. Well, besides Malcolm. He hogged him first. Wu Xin's taking what's left. J/k
Spare some for an older brother?
Sorry, Wu Xin;s a very demanding teenager.
Will isn't so much as wardening as suddenly parenting it feels like. I'm so sorry, Will.
magicom: apparently Malcolm might have to pull extra weight on that front if Wu Xin is hoarding Will
Fuzzytale: Ha, yeah. That's partially due to my never-ending series of chronic illness problems, but ALSO Will is...more social than his canon? But that's not saying much. He's on network post
#5 after a year and a half on the Barge.
I am hoping to have him out and about more now that I've pushed him into Counseling, but we'll see! When I get back from my trip in mid-November, I want him to run a Barge 101 classroom-style lecture. >_> (so ppl are less surprised by Breaches and Floods, hopefully?)
(also Will loves the idea of parenting, even if he will never have actual children, so don't worry about that, Wu Xin)
(let him make up a teensy bit for Abigail Hobbs)
Malcolm will be in the back row of every one of Will's lectures like
oh, that'll be interesting!
siderealtime: Will, skipping right to the angsty emo teen stage.
Will has furbabies now he has a furlessbaby. naked mole rat
I was thinking more of a hairless cat.
hehe, he'll accept either :3
Why can't there be hairless otters?
And I just realized that thanks to Wu Xin trading B's post, he now has the inner guilt of thinking he might be responsible for the friendly fire that killed their people.
Which means he's going to feel seriously bad about learning Yelena died from that. And think he possibly killed someone.
Yeah, that totally added a new layer to his angst.
He probably didn't, he was only returning cannonballs, probably wouldn't have had the firepower to do that damage compared to the rest of the attack crew. But still. He blew holes in the gun deck, exactly like B described.
Kid is definitely not okay.
This is the only reason why Will replied publicly, tbh.... to try and float the idea that (most) people were doing the best with what they knew, and it was a losing fight no matter how they approached it. He doesn't want people doing their best to survive to feel guilty for that. >_>
(at the same time, he completely understand B's frustration. he's feeling frustrated too, but mostly because they couldn't target the Real Problem of this fight)
People blowing up large chunks of a ship without even attempting to clear the area first probably should feel guilty.
There's survival, and then there's not even trying to minimize collateral damage.
Also when the large chunks of the ship are specifically unknowable interconnected life support systems...
And when "weakening the hold" to """""""free"""""" Narrenschiff passengers was, although basically the same approach of smashing whatever they could find, specifically a separate goal because the Admiral had never actually stopped holding his own Barge passengers
oh, I didn't know about that. I thought the Cap'n had hold off the Barge people while they were on his comms, at least?
but Will did miss a lot of the excessiveness of the fight. he is purely concerned about those who will take guilt they don't deserve on.
the guilt that some DO deserve, he figures they won't care anyway, regardless. :/
I think that was a bit nebulous ICly.
It's reasonable to infer that the Admiral still had hold of the Bargizens because he said weakening the Cap'n's hold would be necessary to grab the NSers, and not that it was necessary to grab his passengers.
But that doesn't necessarily mean that's correct - it's not like anyone asked "so, do we need to break shit for you to reclaim us, or just for you to steal them".
I can try to gather sources for this stuff in a bit. But the main OOC reason I was under the impression the hold had never broken was because otherwise characters could go to Cap'n and ask to let go and die
TBH even if he had a full hold over them, why would he let go of his leverage like that?
I was under the impression that the Admiral first asked to "give them hell" for the purpose of damaging the Narrenschiff to reduce the extent to which it was capable of damaging the barge which would in the long term deprive the barge passengers, and then separately floated the "weaken the hold and get other passengers" idea
everything was so chaotic I think it's realistic that people had different impressions of what was happening and what they needed to do and why.
some were doing their best, some were attacking their own ship and people by accident, some were just trying to get out.
But yeah like "hold" literally does not show up in the "there will be a chase and battle" OOC plotting post and only once in the "battle conclusion" plotting post. Ultimately there's a lot of confusion
Particularly when you factor in the very reasonable decision to not take the Admiral and/or the Cap'n at face value. For example IIRC both of them claim the wave was genuinely a coincidence but many characters believe the Cap'n induced it
yeeeeah, there's the wave thing too. Will was suspicious, but apparently the Admiral was like 'oops' about it. There's a lot of ways to come away from this whole thing.
Well anyway Seph if you're open to Walter eventually talking to WX about this stuff then it could happen
There's an argument for you, the Admiral is also negligent to the point of getting multiple of his people killed, so how can the wardens be expected to do better?
This too like "oh the admiral is so great and takes such good care of us" well somehow the Cap'n had to be the one to save (debatable) them from the island
Tagged! (The original plurk is too far back.)
Yes, it's a lot of confusion going on, and the Admiral wasn't at all helpful about it. I think of the damage is contributed to his vagueness, which Wu Xin discussed on several occasions. Why he didn't go public with what the Admiral told him about weakening the hold to grab NSers.
ancillaries: not sure WX would be open to talking. He's acting
all is well with the world! to any people. Right now, animals, or a drunken conversion, have the best bet to hear his truth.
narrowmybed: sankyu! It's fine, ping me anywhere as long as you do.
