i don't know, real-life politics may seem more subtly cruel than "we're using a whole country's worth of people's souls to create immortal beings". then you think about the material causes of most big wars in history to the present, as well as colonialism, slavery, essentially using people as resources to build whole countries and it all starts making sense.

to be clear, i love the show. it has made me think a lot these days. however, it always leaves me feeling like this. in fact, whenever something good happens to any of the characters, i worry it hints to future tragedy.

my bad prediction is that one of the main characters will die by the end. winry gives off tragic figure vibes...
