I mean yeah he's a fan favorite Baldur's Gate character but his appearance in BG3 is itself a cameo
I feel like once a character has a source book framed as coming from them you don't get to express surprise that they show up in future game books
yeah on one hand i guess minsc is mostly in the canon through the BG games
but on the other hand, it feels weird to describe him as a "baldurs gate character"
right like at this point he's just our friend Minsc from D&D
also if they didn't want to be cowards, i feel like Gale and Lae'zel are the two characters they could bring in from BG3 that would have a noteworthy affect on D&D lore as a whole
Oh yeah definitely. If they wanted to let BG3 have a meaningful impact on d&d lore either of their arcs have the potential to be paradigm changing.
Like, honestly ascended Gale isn't really in a position to change much except on the scale of people who already knew him, iirc he even says he doesn't have the power yet to grant spells to clerics
Sure, but just having another canonical chosen of Mystra would have some level of impact on canon
