I don't have an immediate plan on what Walter would find a self preserving or otherwise good course of action, but I thought having a group chat to bounce ideas could be fun
Silver FULLY wants to stay on the Narrenschiff and is willing to fire cannons at the Barge about it.
Erskine going for a subtle course of action because it is a point where he figures it's best not to be caught on a side, but that means offering support to those he knows don't want to go back
also willing to fire cannons at the barge
ive had his post open all week to tag
Want to tag in with something post-Admiral announcement for Silver & Pyotr?
yes! i'll be on that after dinner
I feel like they could have a nice moment of "Well, time to pull out the heavy weaponry" together
i do think pyotr would be willing to fight even if it blows the cover he's tried to craft (revolutionary optimism)
Sometimes a revolutionary has to roll out the cannons, Pyotr, they'll understand.
Sweeney is resigned to leaving, but if others express a want to stay, he might be persuaded to provide more passive assistance. His goal it to attack the boat/Cap'n instead of the people, and will be hopefully leaving them some stuff to survive through the time needed for repairs
understanding not guaranteed
God, I just fuckin remembered. Alex and I have been talking about the many possible IC reasons for barge characters to want to stay on NS. And you know what. CAPN ANSWERS REQUESTS FOR EVERYONE NOT JUST WARDENS
"vive le son du canon <333"
OFTEN IN THE NEGATIVE BUT STILL
So... you want the Admiral to just... tell you know when you ask for stuff instead of nothing at all. Noted. Will make the suggestion.
thanks phone but i meant the one i typed :|
would erskine perhaps be willing to use his magic to keep silver and pyotr from being "seen' firing the cannons? that would be very funny. (inspired by the way he can use magic to keep people from hearing conversations in our thread with the caveat that it may not work against other powered people)
he can use the elements to stir up all types of distractions!!
Walter is permapaired unlike the three guys. It'll make his decision easier if it comes to his attention that the admiral will give wardens some tools back
though he'd also say that the capn says he won't keep them
I think he's going to try to think of a way that him going back to the barge can help the others stay
pyotr doesnt care if the capn sends him back to his death
(though not if there's an emphasis on capn not keeping)
that'd be good actually compared to the barge
and could also help with the walter "pyotr doesnt care about his life" concern thread...
other, sneakier idea i have had
is if there is anything on the narrenschiff that might be used to blow up the barge later, example: things that could be used to make a bomb
Like if Walter can distract people on the barge from their attempts to control the Narrenschiff
Yeah Walter someone will be paying attention to where you are bud
....walter if edwin catches wind of this he is going to Take the Excuse to Make Your Day Upsetting
It's for his friends to be free and happy! Don't they deserve that and not years on the barge like Fitz?
This really will probably be a big turning point in Team Misty Quigley Freedom and Happiness to Team Movie Club Freedom and Happiness
THEN STAY BUT DON'T SHOOT AT HIS
HOME HE'S ONLY GOT ONE OF THOSE
then Fitz will be free to ride around the multiverse on a vessel driven by an immortal and powerful being that no one entirely understands while crashing into danger every month or so
or he can go back to the Doctor ^_^
the Admiral isn't quite incompetent enough, despite attempts!!!
look your morosexual requirements shouldn't cause cannon fire, or canon fire : )
erskine means it about that 'asking for a friend'
this one's for you, pyotr
Honestly "admiral agrees to hand you over and then part two is IF I agree to take you" is literally an improvement for the "maybe just let go" crowd on the barge
that part about it being possible if both capn and admiral agree to switch passengers is very interesting
if Silver is drawn to the more old-fashioned canons he'll discover a lot of them have been internally melted
"its a complicated process. we both have to agree."
Silver will be so cranky about the cannons being damaged
Those are the only weapons he knows how to use
"only the absolute most destructive antimatter cannon my ass" (was actually not Abel though)
Abel you're living up to your name, you're the sacrifice
Frankie could not torch a lot of the more high-tech canons because she knows JUST enough about lithium batteries to know that if the wrong thing exploded it could be 1) VERY BAD 2) pretty obvious someone is fucking around with them!
WHY DOES WALTER'S SEMI-CRUSH HAVE TO HARSH HIS BRO'S CANNON STYLE
but solid old school canons she can disable just stealthily walking by and she would have done that as part of Tendi's plans (she absolutely wants to be on a ship she can graduate from)
there's absolutely nothing to tie her to it :>
lmao the world will never know
Abel asked to be the sacrifice here honestly. people have hated him before. that's fine.
silver and pyotr desperately trying to figure out how to fire a laser space gun because the canons wont work is very funny to me
later on, if any barge people ask
"yeah we were definitely trying to dismantle them!!!!"
https://lastvoyagesooc.d... unfortunately this is what they're going up against... durge specifically... although perhaps someone from the NS could fight him
They find a machine gun style and do their best to apply the Matrix
atm jesse and xigbar might also be helping him do it
i just feel bad for silver and pyotr now
Erskine would definitely try to use his own elemental magic to protect them directly
Walter does too! They're literally by SOME measures his two most important people and they're suffering!
its just theyre so normie....
they're not even 21st century normie....
of things hard to spin, erskine doesn't put 'trying to stop my friends from being frozen (when they were totally trying to help)' on the list
they were totally trying to help!!!! pyotr was at the barge commune at least once and everything!
he complained about the hammocks!
look at irresponsible wardens joining in
yeah, Silver's definitely not going to succeed in this task but he's going to try
pyotr too, and i think he might look to bring back flammable materials or chemicals to the barge to build a bomb later
(it's good for erskine to have such normie friends, even as he is - as ever - fully not allowing the cognitive dissonance get to him)
hell yeah, glad pyotr can help erskine in his Journey
would it be a private channel?
yeah, everything is automatically private & erskine is definitely texting. as he's saying to admiral, appearances can matter a lot and this is the look the admiral's giving
So like originally 1x1 Erskine and Capn, Erskine and Admiral threads, but we are also establishing Erskine repeating the info in text messages to friends
sending to the group chat
...So, do any of the dissenters want to be temporarily turned into superpowered juggernauts of destruction so they can fight the supes trying to stop them from firing on the Barge?
Because Hela can empower people as her avatars, and making the Barge folks fight their own would greatly amuse her.
god
this would drive Pyotr and Silver CRAZY)
Pyotr: I was helping!
Bargizens: You were shouting 'vive le Narrenschiff' and 'vive le cap'n!'
Pyotr: I was possessed
Bargizens: I thought you said you were helping??
Pyotr: I was helping, and then I got possessed!
welcome back to hell guys.
maybe just leave the guns alone and don't fuck up the barge
yes the barge is supposed to fuck up you, not the other way around
"dont fight for your freedom"
Nah, Barge gotta take some damage.
It's only fair and more interesting than flawless victory, tbh
"just cooperate with your kidnapper, like we cooperated with ours--oh wait.."
ancillaries: LOL, there are so many people who are aiming to trash all the gun decks, who knows what, if anything, will be left, depending on how the defense goes XD
lol, and then SO MUCH MORE loads when I hit enter XD
researchboner: also that's nice kid! For some people the barge is home, for other people it's literally specifically hell and maybe it should burn okok!
Screaming at Admiral telling Erskine it's probably not more than a week
it's really been so funny just trying to work on Walter's perspective of all these events. he is a simple internet gremlin man.
me, desperately trying to bring together themes: Walter has asthma and the frog affected the oxygen
Walter misses the entire thing because his asthma puts him in the infirmary.
I do kinda wonder how "protecting the infirmary" is going to be perceived lmao. Like uh. They're the enemy. It's the NS own infirmary. At the same time, Walter may have no choice but to eventually bunk up there with his warden
Will and Malcolm protecting the infirmary
Yeah, we'll see where that puts them and if anyone hates it. Will just defaulting back to protecting his home base.
I
suspect the docs will be fine with it, but....
everyone be grateful Walter got his stupidity out of his system and also may or may not have been jumped out of his communicator
Arthur did that on the barge
Bossie is so mad about all you hooligans!!
he just wants to raid ships and hang out with his people why are you all making it so hard
Because they're all just awful.
also I've been running with the assumption Max DID take the communicator if that's okay? He used it to contact the Admiral to beg him to take him on board :c
SO. I saw that and I was like AWWWW full circle
but with my earlier comment I kinda meant solely communicator theft to deescalate the situation? All of his stuff is kind of a lot, so I think that it would make sense for Walter to lunge for the alarm at that point
regardless, I do think it would be very cute for Walter to see that like AWWWW he used it for a purpose. maybe I should talk to him again
OH YES he's going to give back the rest. He's bad at stealing unless it's food
oh okay. when I read that stuff I was like ( "He's taken everything now"?? I will need to talk to Vil to make sure how this will work)
He came in intending to take it all but he's like "...he needs clothes and an inhaler... aw fuck it I've got the communicator he can have the rest"
Walter pls come bunk up in the infirmary where Malcolm can drag you along easily when it’s time to go back to the Barge.
walter is a grown man.. dragging him somewhere... maybe look at your life, look at your choices, malcolm
at least dragging him somewhere is normal for a cop collaborator, unlike everything that happens in that somewhere
He's just looking after his people. Maybe try actually caring about him like Malcolm does, Pyotr.
call it whatever you like
anyway hilarious of Walter to judge Malcolm's suspicion of the Cap'n's potential to poison him with something he needs to consume to survive when Walter just poisoned someone on their actual side by sabotaging his food.... it's not inconceivable, Walter!
"their actual side" no, it was a warden ^^;
cut the shit and accuse Walter of using the pills to poison you
Not WALTER he thinks it was very kind of Walter to take that chance just to help him.
The Capn, on the other hand.... But that was the only choice at the time and Walter put himself out there.
Walter actually increased in Will's esteem by doing that.
But the Capn? And maybe he didn't poison them THEN but, uh, upgraded them once the Admiral showed up.
Maybe If You Had Been Taking Them During The Good Days
You Would Have Gotten Use Out Of Them During The Safe Times
MAYBE i'm actually not super clear on when he got them from Walter's endeavour compared to when the Admiral showed up.
So I'm sort of /smudgesmudge
To him, it doesn't diminish what Walter did, even if they were always poison.
clasps your hands. saturday...
Or if they were never poison.
more like HOPEFULLY BY SATURDAY... I CAN THREAD STUFF...
Because the point is what Walter did, not what the Captain did or didn't do.
god I was so into prison break back when
someday perhaps I will break my heart and rewatch and app Scofield
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA sorry just the inherent humor of him being apped to the prison break game
this comic reminds me of barge negative inmates looking at graduated inmate wardens
Also a lot of events in general
chill the cult is fine
this is objectively good but from a worried Ic perspective is not encouraging. You don't have to worry unless you're already dying over and over like a flickering lightbulb
Abel isn't encouraged either, sorry Walter. He tried to get you good info.
Thats the only decent part about it, though it really isn't that specific. Abel likes numbers, something concrete and definitive. This is just well it'll happen until it doesn't essentially. Who knows when?
He is CLAIMING that nothing happened to the barge itself unlike the flotilla crash but like... Hm. Hmmmmmm
the flotilla crash was proceeded by the magnus archives events with fear entities coming to the ship and messing with the ship's internal properties somehow
it is conceivable that summoning silent hill would also give similar "interference"
flotilla crash preceded by*
the silent hill and the Dreamlands
He’s saying the inmates that weren’t just killed would also just... die if they were truly cut off from the Barge bc they’re dead and the Barge is what’s keeping them “alive”. So that’s how you’d know.
Abel just like we'll maybe don't put us all in situations that could potentially happen and that sounds perfectly fine
he'd rather not get warped back home if they lost connection with the Barge either thanks.
Walter still has no idea dream lands was technically not a flood
Walter needs to understand that he did actually die in his actual life.
Walters actual stance isn't "I definitely never died in real life" but "how come confirming to the admiral's weird standards is the only way to come back to life, particularly when I have literally been subjected to short term resurrection here once already"
And while the Narrenschiff does confirm that graduation energy is necessary to live, it also shows that the Admiral's standards ARE NOT set in stone
He's certainly very open to never died though lol
the multiverse is full of magical bullshit. why is the barge the only way?
pyotr obviously should have ended up on the boat where you're supposed to learn to love instead.
Pyotr should've ended up on the boat where your path to salvation comes via accepting a spiritual transformation
also he would say he does know how to love... he loves stavrogin. (he says "i love you" to him pretty much directly in the canon)
"Me? I love an idol. You are my idol!" Who wouldn't be charmed by such a confession...
the Brigantine! that was Spiritual Ship
Pyotr would be the ... what was the warden equivalent called on the Brig? I know there was Novices.. and Initiated?
He's very galaxy minded...
yeah, I think it was Initiates! he would've been such a good Initiate
embracing the chaos, stabbing people left and right while converting them to the cause of revolution--
why wasnt he rescued by the deacon
I mean, yeah, you can whine about who rescued you and what kind of energy they need to be able to keep you alive and give you your life back, but... you could also be happy anyone decided to rescue you at all? XD
Walter might be the only fuckin person to thank Cap'n
Fuzzytale: this is basically Malcolm's position on it. like. you were deemed worth saving.
Cap'n gave them oxygen and energy for three weeks although Bargizens have recklessly compromised it
Yeah, but he only did it b/c he was stealing them as bargaining chips to extort the Admiral, not because he gives a shit about them or wants to keep them
(re the thoughts in the other Plurk: Silver would have suggested a meeting place in the lowest deck or two, where it's unlikely they'll be interrupted!)
And the Admiral only does it for batteries.
clearly Walter and Fives need to meet, he is a big barge proponent XD
Either rescuing people with selfish motives is still rescuing, or kidnapping people in a way that means they’re not as dead as they could be is still bad, can’t have it both ways.
thing is, Fives is pretty sure the Admiral doesn't need the graduation energy to survive, he needs it to power a ship that allows him to rescue people and give them a chance to live again. He could be wrong, he hasn't asked, but that's his unexamined assumption
(but he also doesn't think they were rescued, he thinks they were attacked and stolen for this explicit purpose. The timing was WAY too convenient, and clearly there was no reason to expect that kind of natural calamity or a cruise ship wouldn't be casually operating there)
Fuzzytale: I need to know is Fives genuinely sporting a shit eating grin constantly
no, I'm just way too lazy to change icons, and I need to make more for more expressions XD
he doesn't look crazed all the time
I said in DM a bit ago Cap'n's argument is that the passengers are only sorta a resource, like he'd have more mouths he couldn't feed, so he needs to get something. Admiral just straight up "what's mine is mine, what's yours maybe also mine". neither of them are considering passenger happiness alone to be a boon
the PB I use is a pro rugby player in Australia, and he has a LOT more images available with a lot more expressions... I just need to get organized enough to assemble images and then pay someone to make icons, b/c I suck at it >.<
Admiral does it for batteries to power his "ego trip", Cap'n also conducts raids for energy to power his "ego trip". They both are pursuing their mission to "save" people, though of course the different ships could be viewed differently
OK THANK YOU FOR FIVES CLARITY LOL i have to ask
"saving" is one way to put what the admiral does. pyotr would disagree
like yes, i guess??? its technically saving? but if you save someone and then torture them and try to make them do certain things.... that's not "saving" that's sadism
and the admiral not directly doing the torturing versus the admiral constructing a sadistic amusement park to trap them is not a distinction that pyotr thinks exonerates the admiral
i do feel that pyotr's viewpoint is valid as he is a normal human being unprepared for the stuff the barge puts them through
For sure (even as a nonhuman, because wtf)
yeah, sweeney as his own reasons for why the barge uniquely sucks for him such as the breaches contributing to madness...
'I'm going to torture you into a better person with the promise that someday you'll be free and not dead, even though I could literally do that for you right now, without all the bullshit'
A true philanthropist
Yelena’s position is that he should get consent. Blah blah “he decided you were worth saving” blah, fucking ask. If that person declines the months or years of torture for the possibility - not guarantee - of resurrection, move on to the next.
Also
It used to be (in Sweeney's understanding) that no one was asked; they were just taken. Now apparently some were (like Will). He isn't sure how to feel about it
It's not like the Admiral is any more forthcoming about what a shitshow the place is; he doesn't even bother to tell the Wardens that
the intensity of what goes on on the barge is a lot
i dont think it makes pyotr whiney for not being oh so glad he was "deemed worth saving". like after a certain amount, its normal to be like "i'll take death please." pyotr's pride and spitefulness caused him to never want to go along with this from the beginning, but subsequent events have just validated how right he was to hate it all from the start...
empathy would help him a lot more than trying to explain why the problem is actually him. the problem is him on a lot of stuff, but i dont think it's all or even mostly him when it comes to the barge
in fairness, pyotr also lacks empathy for most characters, which i understand is frustrating.
Walter keeps trying to tell Malcolm that characters particularly Pyotr are not inherently going to accept the claim that the barge is a place with an ultimately morally good outcome
Because IC, it is a claim
pyotr almost cried when allen walker acknowledged this (the barge) was a bad thing happening to him and that he didnt deserve it
he doesn't think people should necessarily be grateful for the opportunity but he does think that the outcomes are positive in the end.
(pyotr is a horrendous person so he kind of does deserve to suffer)
I don't think Walter would ever say "just let me die". I think he would always give in to the urge to survive. But at the same time when I had him say "yes", it was kinda intended to be a similar result to how the barge appeared during the fourth wall event, even though he didn't remember at the time, because a dissonance would be an obstacle to development
i actually didnt know the barge would be such a bad experience for pyotr, lol. i knew he wouldnt like it, but... yeah, i didnt know it would make him worse (at least in the short and medium term, hopefully harry will help...)
He's seriously drifting pretty close to "just let me die" being the correct choice because. Like, Walter killed and framed someone for Misty's crimes and in the process the crime he was committing, right? And that was objectively morally wrong, he should have just done "nothing"
And even if he had a credible reason to believe that he or Misty were imminently being killed for their crimes, dragging in a completely innocent person to take the bullet for them would be wrong and he should do "nothing"
(I'm putting "nothing" in quotation marks because people, particularly Malcolm, would probably say that trying to find a better solution is not nothing, but anyway)
So like... If choosing to take the opportunity to go on the barge and try to live... Means selling your soul to this system where the energy will specifically be used for a "third purpose" to power the torture (because we know for sure now it's NOT just for final resurrection and deals)
And this torture has left Pyotr and Silver, who have become very important to him, genuinely like "losing what I originally valued is a fate worse than death, I would rather be anywhere else, just let me die"
Then maybe selling your soul is... Wrong?
Honestly, Silver's not so much there because he finds the barge torturous (he doesn't) but because he's so frustrated at the inability to leave without, in his opinion, losing the things he needs to survive
(in a more metaphorical, spiritual sense-- he's clinging to the things from home that were meaningful to him to provide an anchor against the Barge bullshit)
^ Pyotr is doing that too.
Yeah coulda been phrased more like "Pyotr it's B", "Silver it's A"
Or A&B for Pyotr... Suffering...
This is why Silver and Pyotr both want to blow the shit out of the Barge...
I think it's going to be good for Silver, though, actually, because it's kind of breaking him out of his stasis/nihilistic approach to everything and he's going to come out Actively Opposed And Swinging
the power of secret groups...
I am more caught up than I thought would be possible and hooray
