now we're learning about how intellectual property works
there seems to be some kind of unspecified harassment going on somewhere
my bosses keep asking me if i've noticed anything
so i think this is an attempt to appeal to everyone to stop being dicks since they can't figure out who's doing it
they definitely prefer to do one on one in person meetings to stop people from being dicks, but that's hard to do if the people being harassed won't come forward (as is their right, obviously)
...anyway at the end someone asked a silly question (basically a question specific to our area which the HR person has no idea about)
i was able to answer it because the dude would NOT let it go, and my boss came up to thank me later so that was nice
It could be their way of also warning the person and setting up a trail of evidence for later while also preventing others from being dicks
I was more like why are you learning about how intellectual property works than the sensitivity training. we have mandatory stuff like that yearly
the hr lady said something about how corporate wants everyone to see the video we were shown so it's possible that we're having issues with people stealing property as well
...could also be corporate got spooked by a lawsuit elsewhere and feel compelled to cover their asses with some "if you do this wrong you accept all responsibility because now you were ~trained~" time investment
spooked by a lawsuit/problem elsewhere is definitely a thing. We got a major refresher on phishing issues when one of the vegas casinos got hacked
oh yeah that could definitely be
video training especially is usually more about liability than actual training, so it always makes me suspicious
actual meetings could go either way
...honestly neither a meeting nor a video is a great way to learn things, that's why classes have things like discussion and review and homework and tests, but if there's a meeting they might at least be kind of actually trying.
