tons! of babies!

momma moth there is dead unfortunately but I looked it up and that's a giant leopard moth.... she laid her eggs on one of the pillars on my back porch

it's pretty late in the year for that but it's still 90 degrees where I live so I'm not surprised lol

this summer we had a TON of caterpillars everywhere, also a lot more spiders than usual.... I have no idea wtf is going on with the bug explosions but it was a pretty normal summer otherwise, not quite as scorching as it can get here

(the caterpillar babies should be fine, google tells me this moth usually lays eggs on tree trucks and the caterpillars will go searching for food sources on their own)

soooo many... we had a ton of those grown caterpillars earlier in the summer too, they're big hairy black ones
