Completely coincidentally, the last sci-fi 3 books I read (listened to at work) were ALL somehow about identity in individual and group contexts, including what it means to be human in a
wider universe containing other sapient life. 2 of the 3 of them took place in prison camps.
2 of 3 had plots hinging on reconciling 2 different trees of life on the molecular level.
2 of 3 of them were about humans being a very minor species among many.
It was REALLY WEIRD how much they overlapped???
And now I'm reading this Warhammer 40K book with is, like, a profound meditation on how memory and your past shapes your current self (among other things) and just
