teejhead I just saw your IG post, did not know you were a Mets fan? G is a huge fan and actually got to cover the series for the Inquirer, and M and I went to last night's game. It was such a blast!

I grew up in queens. They’ve been my team and the redsox were always my favorite American League team. My dad loved the dodgers (back when they were in Brooklyn) so we were taught that the Yankees were the bad guys! What a great game to have been at - when not getting anxious.

Yeah they made it interesting till the last out, there have been so many games like it this season, never a dull moment. M is a Tigers fan, and A is a Yankee fan so it has been fun this year. Kind of wish we could all root for the same team though.

I managed to get Larry, who was not a sports fan at all, to root for my teams. I have often commented on how being married to a non-sports fan was better than being married to a Yankee fan. But growing up a Mets fan when they were terrible and the Yankees were a dynasty I think of all Yankee fans as being as mean and obnoxious as the neighborhood kids.

I had no sports loyalties here when I came and M grew up in the Midwest so no NY team loyalties either so we all got to pick. G and I went for the underdog/trainwreck teams. Crazy stuff has happened over the years.

I do have to say I pretty much dropped the Jets as I just can't stomach Aaron Rogers, and just try to pay attention to my fantasy team.

Of course I grew up a Padre fan - we could walk to the games from my home and easily hear the announcers from inside of our house. They had Jr Padres, which was like $12 and included a shirt, tickets to weekday games and free food - so all throughout middle school, that's where we were. But I also think baseball as a game is boring (LOL)

so when they moved to Petco Park, I pretty much stopped watching it. It's a beautiful park, I've been a couple of times but it's to people watch and eat. My mom and M are fans so I'll root for San Diego. Nice to have some different teams make the playoffs!

We went to game 5 on Friday which was a blast, great game with the outcome we wanted and great weather too. Still tall order to wrap this up though.

That must have been fun. Watching at home I didn’t feel good about the outcome until the 9th inning. I’m rationalizing- if they don’t win it all I’d rather the dodgers beat them than the Yankees.

All the Mets fans were rationalizing as we were coming in there was a lot of talk how it was a great season and they did not get swept by Dodgers so it is all good. Not much confidence though leaving the chants were Mets in 7 of course :-D

It’s possible. I was at the dreaded 19-8 Sox lose to the Yankees and there was one person chanting Sox in 7 as the players were leaving. I also think part of being a met fan is enjoying a good season even if there is disappointment.

Yes you are right, I did feel bad as G was actually crying last night. But they gave us a great season and a bunch of amazing games so there is that. And there is definitely a potential going forward now that they actually have a committed owner.
