It’s a sad story of England's history. Edward VI appointed Lady Jane Grey as his heir and passed the throne to her upon his death. But Jane never asked anyone to crown her. The people who supported her were only because of her fiercely faith in Protestantism.
They were afraid if Mary Tudor claimed the throne she would defeat the new faith and re-establish Catholicism. Though Jane didn’t want to, the heavy crown still landed on her little head. She was a poor girl, a piece of chess to be played by the sly people who were filled with ambition and wanted to consolidate the power of Protestantism.
But Jane’s reign wasn’t secure and quite short. Princess Mary soon assembled her supporters who thought her lawful claim to the throne should overrode religious considerations. And the council switched their allegiance and proclaimed that Mary was the Queen.
Then, Jane lost her supporter and was confined in the tower. Queen Mary decided if Jane changed her faith to Catholicism and asked forgiveness, her crime of treason would be pardoned. But even so, she kept her faith firmly and finally accepted her fate to die. On execution day, the blade swung to her slender neck cruelty.
