During covid, the unemployment payment was raised here. People came out of poverty. Outcomes improved. People found jobs despite the economic climate. Mental health improved. And as soon as they dropped it back to 1/3 of the Henderson line, they were surprised that people got worse off for some reason.

GOD. As every study of UBI pilots has ever said

Idk why when people say "They'll be lazy if we just pay them" nobody considers "we could try it and just have eligibility requirements if we're that worried about it"

If they fixed the disability benefits system that alone would go far.

Most people... get bored. They recover from burnout and then they start looking for ways to join in. I would volunteer if there was something nearby that I could get into.

People on disability should not be made dependent on their partners but that's another rant of mine

It's almost like the instant you take away the stress of worrying about survival, people perk up and do more!

as someone who's been unemployed and struggling to find work I can actually live on since January of 2023 yeah

my stress-based illnesses have been off the goddamn charts for a year now

in a way they were not when I was unemployed and getting the stimulus '''bonus''' to my unemployment payments during Covid

(I say bonus because tbh it should always have been that much but that's another rant)

When people arne't struggling to survive, they can actually live.
