The community is in a weird state of just. Huh.
Like imagine 80 million people at once like:
and you have TS4 community
So their logic was, there's 80 million players for TS4 why not just keep going instead of starting over again and losing momentum (and customers)
And on the one hand, that sounds fair! That sounds smart! Especially when people have invested over $1500US into this game
but will they fix the bugs--/gets laughed off the stage before i can finish asking
But on the other hand.............
The game has a classic case of spaghetti coding where any time something is added, changed, adjusted, even so much as looked at, 5 different things break
my first thought was mostly "they were planning a Sims 5?"
They've been planning it for years
It was set to release in 2025
They have even shown different features and a build/buy mode
But apparently it's all getting scrapped and I think Inzoi and Paralives are mildly to blame
They are good competition that was sorely needed and I really hope EA gets their act together and cleans up the bugs so people don't all jump ship to their competitors
That said, they now have a "bug" fix team. And the last 5 patches have been just fixes. Only fixes
How many things break because of those fixes........? A lot..... but it's a step in the right direction
I couldn't play literally all of August thanks to constant bugs and crashes as they tried to smooth things over from an update in late July
Literally, unplayable for 1 month thanks to a new pack (I didn't even purchase!!)
So..... idk. But they want to keep going with a 10 year old game despite big red flags that the game already is at its limit
the really crazy part is they cancelled it, sure, but also not?
like... they're just mushing all their new ideas into the Sims 4
project rene, multiplayer, etc.
which... will only end well i'm sure
the last couple patches have proven how stable the game is
Yep....
which, can i just: multiplayer - in my sims - no thank you
I feel like they're thinking of.... what's it called. Second Life?
there's gonna be some bullshit, 'must always be online' requirement built in i feel it
even if you have no intention of engaging with whatever it is, you'll have to agree to it or not play
They might start with that, but I don't think it'll keep
They already make it difficult to log in without an internet connection
So it's not so far from that
i am still playing 3 when i do play and my last two games encountered really weird bugs
first there was the Endless Baby glitch that freaked me out so bad i abandoned that game (also i couldn't get it to stop)
then in my last game after the wedding someone was stuck in my house clapping forever. i had to delete her to make her go away
there's an izzzy video that proves they started out planning to make sims4 the multiplayer game and backed out last minute
because of the failure of sim city whatever always online
so I'd not be surprised if they waited for people to forget sim city and then do what they wanted all along
Yeah, TS4 was originally announced to be a fully online multiplayer ~experience~
I would like to think they are learning from mistakes?
TS4 has some online elements like the gallery. But I don't really want another player competing with me as God over my Sims worlds
Also because I like my mods and multiplayer would certainly put a monkey wrench into others accessing my game and its 25,000 mod files
Like I could probably kill computers with that
yeah no thanks... the whole point of the sims is you have a sandbox to play in
what if someone else doesn't like my castle? are they allowed to destroy it? delete my sims?
Exactly, and I think the gallery is honestly enough sharing. You can share sims you made or houses you built, that's more than enough
Yeah.. the sims isn't meant to be multiplayer to be honest
I can see that for like. The minis. What's it? My Sims?
Cause that's a different game entirely. And they announced a new one for My Sims too
So I hope they take their multiplayer that way and just clean up TS4 and make it playable after patches and updates rather than Corrupting save files, and failing to load the main menu
it's just a weird move when second life has already existed this entire time. there's not room for two things like this
I wouldn't be surprised if they do do it to try and get in on the metaverse trend
ea is nothing if not short sighted
