This song is SO weird to me, because my mom had an old single LP of it, and that "making love" part was replaced with "we'll be falling in love" again

Yeah, I heard both versions more or less interchangeably.

elpedrososama I had this conundrum a while back, it's because the mono ("falling in love") and stereo ("making love") versions are different recordings! I think because stereo was typically just for albums back in the 60's, so "making love" wouldn't get radio play

Yeah, I had no idea how old that pressing was...or that they even MADE singles for records.

It took me years to figure it out, so you're not alone

I most frequently heard the version on my mom's Beaches soundtrack, which had "Falling in love"

That's the version I heard growing up, and then in Australia my mom played a "Best of the Drifters" CD that had "making love" and I was so confused

(Also shocked because I was 9 and now understood "making love" to be sexual so was like, "They could just say that?")

(No one told me that "making love" back then was more akin to "doing a number of romantic things, including making out", not "hardcore boinking")
LilCosgrove I had this with characters "making love" in a Victorian novel I read at a young age (LOL) I remember wondering why none of the characters treated it like a scandal
