kicking this one off with a puzzle. I have an objective to kill enemies in Barovia. I haven't begun any content in Barovia, so nominally the only way to complete this is to get Castle Ravenloft in the random dungeon queue

it is inexplicably hovering around 70%. I have not gotten dumped into Castle Ravenloft. I have not set foot in Barovia.

....also I have hideous luck with the random trial queue. It feels like I'll join only to have a bunch of people abandon, and then it's a domino effect: everyone leaves :-(

https://images.plurk.com/39nMuhXZg0fQ3ISXIYyo7T.jpg I love how “need a magic item? Spiky d20!” is a trend. (This one was before BG3’s, I wonder if other dnd video games have one somewhere too)

>see the normal random dungeon queue needs DPS for some unfathomable reason
>sure, queue up!

>the tank afked in the middle of the last boss fight and I got aggro somehow, despite not being top DPS in the party. maybe the others noticed the tank had stopped moving and had backed off?
>think it might be a lag spike...except tank heads directly to the treasure once we manage to down the boss

tank offers no explanation, possible they don't know English and that's the only language any of us have written so far. still, what even happened?

is there anything more frustrating than being a sliver shy of a DPS check

figured out the Barovian enemy thing when I cleared the objective in a completely unrelated dungeon

Iron golems

apparently Valindra and Strahd get them from the same source (or steal them from each other), so killing iron golems in Dread Ring/Valindra's Tower is progressing the "kill enemies in Barovia" objective

(I know it's an internal enemy ID thing but the implied interplanar undead feud is hilarious)
