They do a good job with justifying why Soma can't use his abilities from the last game and why these new villains want him dead.
Turns out the touch screen parts can also be done through QuickTime events.
Also, it just hit me why this game is called Dawn Of Sorrow despite being a sequel. (Dawn - Sorrow - DS)
The second boss fight (the giant zombie with the eye laser) reminded me of the Speed Buster fight from No More Heroes.
I'm also playing Dawn, it's the only handheld 'vania I haven't played regularly over the past few years.
How are the others in the new collection? I've never played them before.
Portrait is very good though I feel like the second half is more "same as the first" than it could have been
but that just makes it "very good game that missed a chance to be perfect"
Order of Ecclesia is also very good but has sort of a weird start and feels smaller than it actually is. It took me a couple tries before I really got into it
I'm with
Tazrael there re: Portrait
and I love Order, but also agree with his words there
the fun with Portrait is you have two characters you can control, swapping and simultaneous, and there's some joke dialogue with the shopkeeps that adds a little charm on that
if you've played Bloodstained, it's very much built on the systems foundation this trio of games (plus aria) set up
if you need Aria of Sorrow, that one's in the Advance collection
I have Aria of Sorrow; I beat it on the Wii U. (so far, it's either my favourite or second-favourite Castlevania game - torn between that and Symphony of the Night)
(I also have the Advance Collection on the Switch, though I haven't played through Aria of Sorrow through that yet)
