16-20 for Chang Geng and Chu Wanning. /asks about characters that are relatively new to me.
Chuchu is one I have not poked much at but I'll do my best
Chang Geng
What scenarios do you like playing out best with them?
- Always love anything with canonmates, especially yifu and miss Chen but I'd be down for just about anything
- in bakerstreet context, him calling people out on being idiots can be very delightful. When he's younger it's more blunt, when he's older it's subtler but
much more pointed. He's a delight for me any time I bring him out, hands down.
What aspects of character development are you most invested in for them?
definitely the way he brings himself under control, and his journey from helpless to mistrusting to getting a grip on his curse to finding his own strength not despite but because of what he is.
it's not frequent that when a character is told they're cursed, it's not a self-fulfilling prophecy but an actual reality... that turns into an obstacle that gets overcome.
Also the whole, he's steady and mature and then gu yun shows up and he dissolves into mental keysmash then pulls himself together because he can't let his little yifu down, not ever.
Ideally, what would you like to accomplish with them for their character development or experiences? What game would you like to play out with them?
I don't... think about my characters that way, honestly. I don't put myself objectives for them. I like throwing them at stuff and seeing how things fall out. And admittedly I'm ... not likely to do games
anytime soon. because of how both my brain and my job work out, there are times when I'm very active and invested and have time, then I turn around and five weeks have gone by and I've missed activity check? And several plots I was excited about? and all the threads I have are very outdated? that works fine in meme/psl but not at all in games
What got you to consider playing them in the first place? What initially sparked your interest?
he's stoic, he's broken, he's very competent, and he can be a little shit in the right-for-kiki doses. I think it was when he rejoined gu yun and was like. I like this bow, can I have it? and was like running support for gu yun with the mountain bandits that I
just playing with the bow and CASUALLY shooting right when and where he needed to for perfect support.
What do you really not want to happen when you play them? What scenarios would you like to avoid? What character development pitfalls do you not want to fall into?
hmm. I know I do not want to overangst him. Like, it's always a big danger with me, to lean too heavily on the huge baggage that my characters carry and have them in constant need of
THAT SCENE IS SO GOOD and the best part is that Gu Yun is happy with it but he has 0 idea what it MEANS for him and how he's doomed to lose his heart to this young man /coughs
I think with Cheng Geng he runs an even higher risk of needing that emotional support, from where I've been able to get up to, at least
other than that, re the last question, I think I can deal with most things. I know I'm not overeager to put him into situations were he has to be, uh, promiscuous, given how he is a one-man kind of guy, but that's entirely up to me whether to put him in such situations and I can avoid that easily
and sob yifu can be VERY COMPLICATED to deal with ... and on top of that, the curse. But the thing is, other than Miss Chen being very firm but supportive, he deals with a lot of that shit all on his own. So the temptation is not as strong as with some other characters, to lean on emotional support. (that, and he goes off and storms on his own and gu yun
doesn't realize chang geng needs him, so alone he deals with it)
Chu Wanning, hmmmm
What scenarios do you like playing out best with them?
honestly, I have not poked much at him, partly because about the time I adopted him, several friends I play with also did, and it was a case of, I don't have much different to offer with him and I'd rather not fight for interactions
that said. I'd love any situation that gets to be warm and soft and comfortable for him. He's been through such hell with so little sweetness, I want to make it up to him. Time with his students, obviously mo ran time, solving problems and making the world a better place in ways he can enjoy the effects of
(the above is why I ended up with xue meng, ftr, not that I've done much with HIM either.)
like it's possible for him to end up in rp in situations worse than what he's already been through but it's highly unlikely
What aspects of character development are you most invested in for them?
I'm.... I need to read more details in proper translation for some bits. But always the growth into accepting he's allowed to love and be loved, that he's not a failure and discardable if he doesn't perform just right. And the whole coming to terms of falling for his student.
like, back when it happened
Ideally, what would you like to accomplish with them for their character development or experiences? What game would you like to play out with them?
again... not something I really consider.
What got you to consider playing them in the first place? What initially sparked your interest?
broken, stoic, overly competent, a little shit sometimes. And ahaha the other one. There being looong stretches of his life when he believes he's discardable, unnecessary, unwanted. that does apply to chang geng also
It was just. /latch on to kiki's brain
What do you really not want to happen when you play them? What scenarios would you like to avoid? What character development pitfalls do you not want to fall into?
again... /points to canon and shit I could not have imagined happening to him and getting WORSE.
I wanted it to end when Mo Ran and Chu Wanning were a happy couple. I still haven't finished it bc it hurt
Wanning being held by Emperor near the end with Shi Mei hovering and I'm just... "plz save Wanning from Shi Mei"
all of this was real good
she mei is ALSO so cemplicated
I felt something was off about him early on, negl
it's awhole setting of pain begets pain
but boy is there a lot of pain
