hopefully it lives up to the hype because man i am a little unsure about trusting online reviews with the number of people who seemed to overall enjoy origami king

because man I really enjoyed super paper mario but origami king had an absolutely awful battle system, and while most people seemed to enjoy the plot and it was often charming there were just imo so many jarringly dissonant dark moments, beginning but not ending with the fact that canonically there wasn't a way to undo being folded

like if beating up enemies rescued and turned them back into friends rather than simply murdering them and using their corpses to paper mache over damage to the world i would have been about 10000% more on board just to start

and the literal constant body horror was very odd and dissonant for me in a game that looked so charming and cheerful
