SO. For any who may recall, the neighbors that got evicted and the police had to come and it was a whole thing
We believe they took the momma cat with them
But effectively abandoned the kittens who have been living in the forested areas on their own since their departure
There is 1 kitten left, we knew of 3 before
With bears, wolves, and everything else out there... it's not surprising
My dad noticed the kitten at first, we think she's about 6 months old based on her size and what we know of the neighbors
My dad really wanted to call a cat PETE. He really likes the name PETE
But it is 100% some kind of calico lol
So she is now being called PETEtunia
We gave her the left over protein-rich cat food that we had initially after Merrill's ordeal. Merrill wasn't eating it anyway and Ru does not need more protein lol he a chubby boy
We've been giving her some dry food. She comes by around 5pm for food but we're trying to get her more comfortable with us
We bought more wetfood for her, there's a heatwave approaching and bad storms to follow so mayybe we can convince her to get into the garage or something before that hits
My dad's been able to get 2 feet in front of her and her to eat comfortably with him around
She's definitely suffering from some skin issues or fur issues, she's got bald patches. Poor Pete is in really rough shape
So we're conflicted because my dad is such a softie he wants to keep her, but he's also aware we have 2 cats, a dog, and impending chickens
Mainly the cost of getting her up to par is weighing on my dad, especially after Merrill's surgery and pancreatitis struggle
Either she will be going to a no-kill shelter. She is young, she is cute, she has a sweet meow. She will easily melt hearts
Or we find a way to keep her. I have no idea though, I'm leaving it up to my dad. He's smitten and she's definitely going to be his cat lol
But here's hoping we can get her safely indoors sooner than later
i hope you can get the poor little dear into the garage at least
Goodness, I hope you can get her into the garage too ;;
She has already survived some storms and a heatwave that went beyond 100F, that's how we found her, so to speak
The Ring camera kept picking up movement near the dog's water bowl so she's been coming by the house a while now for a water source
We just assumed she was a neighbor's until we took a pic of her and they all confirmed she belonged to the ones who had left .-.
Obviously, we want to get her indoors as soon as possible, but also she seems to be a pretty tough cookie and clearly smart. So fingers crossed even if we can't convince her, she'll still be okay
