Some highlights:

"No, Cathy, I told you, I'm not near any town. I haven't seen a building a serviceman hasn't built himself in 8 months!"

"Cathy, I'm going to try and see if I can't come home for Christmas, but please do not tell our folks when I am coming home because they'll want to see me and I want at least a few days with you alone."

"Cathy, I just got my marching orders and I am coming home on this ship. Now, please be PATIENT. I don't want you gallavanting off to San Francisco when my ship could come in at NYC. STAY IN OHIO!! Ships are SLOW. I will be home in a few weeks!"

"Cathy I am writing to you to tell you when I come home, that I will want to be a few days with you WITHOUT other people. I am enclosing money. Get a hotel, a yurt, anything in between, as long as it is just us and privacy. A bath, a radio, and a DOUBLE bed - no twin beds!!"

As well as a very long and windy tale about how they discovered a 'water'fall that had coffee and beer instead and went into great detail about how this was possible. (it wasn't but it was a fun read)

Bonus, I know how much a lot of stuff costs because they both complained about prices of certain goods, then realized they could ship what they needed to each other for cheaper.

And that the Red Cross gave everyone monopoly boards.

And that while he was in Guadalcanal, he would build bridges, and then while working on those would also build their houses. But they had to then set fire to the houses once they were ready to move on (I guess to prevent enemy forces from using them??) so he had to go back to living in a tent until he could build a house again
