the neighbors on the right we've talked to a few times and the wife was complaining that they had a bunch of black widows in their garage and she hated it. Well now that they're gone and the garage is empty those black widows have moved into ours. Which is fine-ish except I don't want the cats to eat them or get bit.
we've relocated 3 so far. and there's one up high we can't reach so that one can stay.
but this isn't the gross part.
so the other neighbor who we've never even seen is in the process of moving out. they've had 2 junk trucks show up to haul things away and some stuff has been weird. Like a treadmil that was cracked across the corner in a way that would only happen if it was dropped - not from misuse. and then way more bedrames than they have rooms for.
like 6 bedframes for a 2 bedroom place.
and now.... we have roaches.
i think that neighbor is a hoarder and now the roaches are on the move. the cats keep killing them which I guess is good, but I'm terrified they'll eat one and get sick because the apartment sprays for bugs
and also roaches skeev me the hell out
I lifted up the bathroom rug to mop and one skittered out and ruined my entire day
AAAAAAAAUGHHH fucking. roaches. I went thru this exact thing last summer Im so sorry.
NOPE
i threw away the apples in the fruit bowl and the garlic/onions/shallots because I'm so freaked out that roach feet might have touched them
we're keeping everything in the fridge hoping they go away.
admittedly theres only been a handful. like maybe 7 or 8. but thats too many!!!
we had a similar problem once before when we lived in one of those apartments that's kinda a house all divided up, and we lived across the hall from really gross hoarders and it reeked and when they eventually got evicted (because the downstairs units ceiling started caving in from the weight) and they started moving there was AN ANT NEST IN THEIR APARTMENT
oh NO 7-8 roaches is definitely too many
and every unit in the place got ants. and not regular ants. fucking big ass ones carrying eggs
7-8 could become so many more so fast, eek
but ants are a little less alarming than roaches.
right? what if they're breeding under my couch.
yeah at least ants you can take care of with bait stations
yeah roaches I don't even know. i can spray outside but that'll trap them in the apartment. and if i put bait somewhere the cats can't get to it, that still means theres poisoned roaches wandering around...
i haven't seen one in 2 days so I'm hoping if we do a super deep clean this weekend we can get ahead of it. lysol the fuck out of this place.
There are bait traps for roaches, we used them in our last apartment. Jolean couldn’t get to them...but god, I know your pain and it’s the worst
She also never ate a roach so...mileage may vary sob
augh roaches are the worst
roaches are never fun, but black widows???
not quite as concerned about the black widows cuz theyre in the garage and not in the house. The ones we evicted to the bushes haven't seemed to come back so that's good.
but if they come inside: thats a declaration of war.
oh god this sounds awful, i really hope you're able to exorcise the demons ASAP...
Black windows are very shy and timid, you have to be actively squashing them for them to bite you. Their bites are painful but not very deadly if you’re not a child, very elderly, or immunocompromised. Plus they eat bugs.
well the cats are only 12 pounds so...
and they'd be out there batting them around. because theyre cats.
For roaches you can sprinkle borax powder behind heavy appliances and inside cabinets the cats can’t get in, and diaotamacious earth around the baseboards and door threshholds, it won’t hurt the cats
diatomaceous earth should actually only be applied around pets by a professional. misapplication can cause inhaling and lung damage.
hmm I might actually have borax.
ugh. i had roaches once and thankfully the winter killed them. still keep stuff in the fridge if its open >>;
