I've had a hell of a month.
Started off with enormous family drama leading to a major depressive episode, and then got hit with bronchitis thanks to a multi-week binge of my neighbor taking down his kid's old tree house and disposing of it
bit by slow, agonizing bit
and the smoke keeps pouring over into my yard
I got horribly sick, and I still can't breathe right
I get so tired, even when I haven't done anything
I'm so fed up with this nonsense.
....wow that's so few lines.
it looks really petty and lame to complain about when i lay it out so small like that.
my neighbor is really making me unhappy
as an asthma-haver who gets bronchitis constantly I am angry in solidarity with you
I got him to at least stop burning the wood before noon but like.
he's got that huge stack of floorboards
and all these big honking support beams
like when it's smoke season here it makes a huge difference in QoL and it sucks shit that there's just one guy making it Smoke Season in your neighborhood
and i like the smell of woodsmoke, it's a pleasant seasonal perfume
He's already burned the walls and the roof
brother just take it to the wood scrapyard like a reasonable person
which was so caked with moss and licked in both cases that I always used to think "that looks super dangerous to go up in, but I can fully imagine a little woodland gnome living there"
so something about that situation
is fucking up my breathing something awful
he's just taking it all and cutting it up into bits and burning it in that little saucer-shaped metal firepit thing
I think you can see it in the photo
oh my god at least have a bonfire??? oh my god
it's like three or four feet across and you wouldn't think it would make all that much smoke
but it's all day every day for the entire month of may, almost
the wood being damp and mossy will make it smokier for sure
this is literally the most insane way a person could dispose of a wooden structure
hey can i pay for this to get hauled away
but every time i think about having that conversation i want a nap
a friend of mine is a marine and he's like "I'LL TALK TO HIM FOR YOU" and im like
maybe calling in the armed forces on the guy is a bit extreme, but thank you
anyways everything is harder when you don't have enough oxygen
does the asthma community know about this
I think you just blew the problem wide open
I will say that when I first learned I had asthma and used an inhaler for the first time before exercising I was like 'OH THIS IS HOW PEOPLE DO THINGS??'
but anyway I hope he stops soon. I hope he stops burning what is essentially a small cabin in his costco firepit
i might genuinely sic the marines on him if this goes on much longer
LMAO MY MOM JUST TEXTED ME
he's apparently just balancing one of the big beams across the pit to try and burn it in half
im not going out there, fuck the outdoors
im staying in here with my fancy covid-era air filter
spare box of replacement filters my beloved
man I hope you've been getting rain over there
it rained a little bit last night
I will say someone could probably rat this dude out to the fire dept
and it's meant to rain again this evening
I'm just imagining someone pulling this shit on the west coast in august or so and burning down the whole county
honestly, i could call the city on him
he's probably not allowed to do this much smoke production
no and laying the beam across the firepit is a massive hazard
like does he understand that it will break apart while still on fire
it just feels kind of like a step too far to call the po-po on this guy
yeah i think that's the point, he's trying to use fire to break it up because it's too thick for his power tools or something
what kind of shitass powertools,
idk, knowing my mom she's probably already talking to him
she doesn't go White Suburban Mother for very much, but
she will do it on occasion
it's a power we have to reserve for only the most important situations
you have to ration that shit
like when someone is smoking out the whole neighborhood
like this isn't calling the cops on someone having a party for a single evening
like, don't go firing a shotgun at a fly, that's how you turn into Karen from the HOA
this is an actual health & safety hazard
u wait for the right target
it's important to save up your venom bc the more you distribute karen bites the less potent it is
it has to really work when you need it
lmao
My mother is in his yard this morning with a print out from the municipal regulations
I might yet live to see clean air return to my life
Oof, I understand the breathing issues. A lot. I hope you recover quickly!
LMAO the fire is like three feet tall and there’s so much smoke, I’m so done. I’m gonna have to make the call.
He’s piled all this green stuff on the fire pit
Trimmings from his bushes
I honestly just think the worst part is you’re he’s burning it directly under the remnants of the structure he’s taking apart
I’m not being a jerk about this right
no he's an idiot you're not being a jerk
this is wildly fucking irresponsible
My doctor called so I missed what happened
Apparently my ongoing cough and shortness of breath are super concerning and she wants an X-ray
Neighbor chopping up his woods with an axe
Watches him suspiciously through the gap in the fence
nothing turned up unusual on my xray
glad my cardiopulmonary situation shows no evidence of diseases and all
but it doesn't indicate a solution to my fundamental problem
YEAH that....doesn't...help
I am already feeling so much better
