I have adulted today by paying bills. Whee.

My electric bill looks ridiculous, so I am working on finding a mitigation for that right now.

I am in Quebec. No way your bill can get as low as mine. (I also have a pretty recent heat exchanger, which is very cheap, power-wise.)

(I pay maybe CDN$250 every two months?)

I don't know how heat exchangers work, but that sounds great. Also a good bill!

I average CAN$150 every two months: gas for heat but electric for central AC in the summer. According to my most recent bill I used "less than 1kWh per day" last month.

What's this two-month deal y'all have?

No idea; it’s just how they bill us here. It doesn’t make any difference in the amount we pay

I expect it's the same outside of Quebec as in Quebec, but not only billing is done every two months, but we have the option to "average out" our yearly electric bill and then we get billed the same amount every two months. If we use less than planned, we get a refund, if we use more, we get an extra bill.

Easier to budget when you know what your bill will be, I guess. But since it's all electronically now, I don't care much about it; there is no one coming to read my meter, so it makes no difference.

StereoNacht: Yeah - out of a whopping sample of two, I'd say most electric providers south of the border do budget billing like that, too.
