TL;DR: Marilee and Korin were very good at Dream Realm content because they deal true damage so they helped people get to top ranks quickly for this specific content. As a result, a lot of people dumped and I mean dumped everything into these two characters
New content, new characters, new meta. Whales are asking for refunds
I did not follow this meta so I'm "safe" from these nerfs. Their damaged didn't make sense to me so while I invested a little into both, neither were in my main team(s)
oof. i don't go here but nerfing is basically one of the worst things you can do in game development
They basically adjusted what "true damage" does. They didn't touch these characters exactly
unless you address it right away because it was unintended, it's always going to be massively damaging to your game for precisely these reasons
This is the first big patch since launch. So while not immediate, most servers have only been around 30-45 days
It clearly wasn't supposed to be like this. Like I said, their damage was whack
There are far scarier teams in PvP that these two characters aren't apart of
The Eironn team, in particular, is horrifying. Groups your heroes into a clump to get insta-wiped by the tanks burst damage reflect. Fight's over in 15 seconds
But these two characters were good for 1 thing and they are the only ones currently impacted largely by this change to "true damage"
Don't get me wrong, it really sucks
jeez i'm kind of glad i haven't gotten that far ye
i don't think i even have those characters on my team at all, my best damager remains Valen because of his invuln strike attack
Valen is great when you are starting out
I would say find characters you like that work for the team you have and just level them to a reasonable amount
i mean they all level up together so i don't know how to do that
When you get toward end-game and toward season content, you'll need two separate teams for afk levels
I guess what I mean is for your wish lists for summoning
So consider 10 you really like that can mesh well with each other if you scoot them around
Having a wider spread of investment means if they nerf one or two, you aren't going to replace an entire team
Just one or two to make them "whole" again
Some heroes are REALLY good but only in certain situations and some are versatile like any fits all scenarios
I would steer clear of the ones that feel like specialists and keep to the versatile ones until you get 1 solid teams going
thank you for the advice, that's very good. I will consider my options!
It hasn't updated with the new nerfs/characters yet though
But typically, don't bother with beyond +10 and only do that much if you really like that hero. Equipment upgrades are not cheap
This isn't the normal equipment, it's character specific that you unlock at Mythic+
ngl i'm waiting for Smokey to get nerfed lmao
Don't let them hear you lmao
Smokey is balanced in that if you have a hero run across the field, they are dead
But the hero selection right now isn't... great. I think he might see competition when they want to release a new healer
But right now, it's Smokey or ... maybe Hewynn or Rowan I guess?
I am nowhere near Mythic, i think my highest hero is just Legendary
You aren't too far off, actually. 4 copies from Legendary->Mythic+ for S-level or 18 copies for A-level. I felt like copies picked up a bit once you get to the Dark Forest and start unlocking the different battle modes too
It's really satisfying getting your first Mythic+
That explains why the whales have been up in arms
I did notice the rewards were halved in Season, but I assumed that was normal for these games
