I'm still amused at how he's introduced as super sketchy and you think he did bad things because of Maomao's reaction to him and the things he tells Jinshi
but then it's like, no, he's just really bad at interacting with people and was unlucky.
right? so many red herrings and then once you get to his backstory it's like...
The whole buyout scene just shows how deep his love is for her, and it's super sad that like nothing could have been done sooner.
I do love that Maomao hates him mostly because he was weird to her as a toddler
things could have gone well, but outside factor changed things and it led to that
and then kept trying to get her to live with him.
I think I should really start reading the novels
fengxian was hoping that her lowered price will give lakan a chance to buy her out, and then... the uncle thing happens
the manga comes out too slowly T.T
same! i wanna see how things goes
what volume is the official one now? 6?
Yeah, like, if only he hadn't been sent away and stuck away for 6 years.
but yeah everyone i know who read/watch is like... lakan is skeevy and then.... oh
i also feel for meimei T_T
and yeah it was only 3 years
I think vol 11 of the popular manga is out in english, the other manga isn't licensed, and the novels are at 11
get caught up on english release and suffer with me
3 years. It should have been 6 months, it would have been fine if 6 months!
11 isnt fully translated yet, but soon
I should get the first few volumes after I read Onmyoji and Tengu Eyes vol 3 u.u
I thought it was coming out in November, and suddenly it was delivered.
I heard the less popular manga was further along
I sort of don't understand why there's two
I think I would understand more if like, one was a shoujo/jousei magazine and the other shounen/seinen but they're both shounen/seinen
though the popular one is gangan which.... honestly feels like a mix half the time.
i know the popular manga has been sticking closely yo the novels, dunno about the other
i need to find the other and read it
I found a few chapters scanlated out there.
yeah i def prefer the art in the popular manga
but not sure if it was dropped or not
I heard the other one's art does evolve, but I also prefer the popular one
apparently the big diff between the two, art aside, is the other moves at a faster pace, which suggests to me it skips some stuff
but the someone else says the opposite, which is it guys
I feel it has more panels to the page
so it might just be moving quicker through layout choices
but I feel what works in the manga is the pacing
I think letting you pause on the emotions and think about the various political things going on, and the mysteries gives it life.
seems its more focused on maomao, like the lns are
there are the ocassional chs in the lns that switch to someone else but its primarily maomao so the other sticking truer to th lns and focusing on her makes sense
also theres two because for whatever reason the author sold the tights to two diff publishers lol
I know the publisher of the novel in print form has two imprints which I find funny
one is a womens imprint and the other a mens
I feel like it makes a good argument on why the way demographics work in Japan needs to end u.u
or, if not end, people in the west need to stop assuming things when it comes to the demographics
definitely, i watched a vid where they were trying to classify the series and it just led to a fight in the comments
Honestly, it feels very shoujo/jousei, but it's one of those things I can't put my finger on why
like it's a bunch of little things
i didnt like the vid cuz they got a lot of details wrong snd were clearly basing everyhing off just the anime
but also, a lot of stuff written by women tend to feel that way in general. (especially if there was no targeted demographic to begin with)
I'm honestly very tired of videos that try to talk about anime and manga and stuff these days
and their exposure is too limited
i think it feels more that way because it focuses heavily on women issues and flowers and poisons are a womens interest, so to speak
I remember seeing someone trying to say girls only got into anime and manga recently.
I usually see that stuff more in women aimed media
yeah, when I saw that all I could think of was a news segment I saw once when Ranma 1/2 was first being published in English and how it was even news worthy because a poll had come out to say the majority of people buying it were women.
and that was like "wow, all these women are buying a comic, but it's a japanese comic called a manga!"
and a lot of high profile licenses back then were shoujo.
imagine that, women buying something that isnt focused on male power fantasies
but I have no idea where the trend of "shoujo = romance and sucks" came from.
it comes from sexism, its like how when twilight was popular ppl were hating on teenage girls for liking it
all my favorite shoujo manga are like, action without any romance, or if there is one it's very secondary.
I am sad that less and less shoujo gets adapted into anime.
also I just feel like shounen jump needs to chill
i tend to like stuff thats been classified as seinen but it could have easily been shoujo/josei
people need to like, stop acting like it's god
I feel like it's an overall determent to the manga industry >.>
I like so many things, a lot of stuff I like have been in magazines that were more in-between (and some of them being transitioned to shoujo after having been shounen)
I do have a soft spot for some of the stuff you find in the classic shoujo magazines, but I am more or less drawn to the older stuff, where they are more or less the same, it's mostly just the focus and main character that are different
older stuff as in older audiance
so often i think about how isekai used to be women led and now its just male power fantasy and thats sad
though I guess right now I'm mildly obsessed with Apothocary Diaries and Freiren
and now it's like, sometimes there's something good but rarely
I will always love Magic Knight Rayearth and Fushigi Yuugi u.u
it even did isekai into a video game like world well.
i never watched the latter but man i loved rayearth
(and then they made an RPG of it)
hilariously some of the chinese isekai tropes in stories are still a bit fun. (still a lot of OP powerfantasy garbage)
though, to be honest I feel like a lot of the ones with "transmigration" tend to put the MC into a preestablished character where they just suffer trying to avoid a tragic fate
but not the same way that like "i re incarnated as whatever villain of this game/story blah blah" that Japanese stuff is popular with right now
in the end, oversaturating any genre is an issue u.u
I really love Maomao and Jinshi, they are so funny, but in many ways similar.
you don't think they are at first, but they are.
yay season 2 is in production!
I really like the balance of humor and serious the show has and yeah :Lakan is just sad.
Lakan is easily my favorite character but he is a weirdo. Outside of everything haha
the entire la clan is a bit weird
The anime’s going to have so much fun with Lahan
i honestly can't wait for lahan
