Before anything else, I have a confession to make. This entire time I thought Iroha was Cure Friendly. Yes, even with the leaks specifically having it spelled out as Friendy.
I feel I have taken a hit to my sanity with this knowledge for some reason.
Ehem. Anyways, Episode 1 cleanly establishes that Komugi is a very dog dog.and it is adorable. And also that Iroha's life is suffering and has a puppy pounce on her lungs to wake her up every day.
...Anyways, we've been introduced to the characters who look to be the main cast already, and initial impressions are: Everyone is adorable Komugi is very dog, Yuki is very cat, Iroha is unstoppable in spite of being a dog's trampoline, and Mayu;s ultra-shy antics bounce off of Yuki amazingly.
Also our first episode has revealed that this is a Precure season about hugging all animals. All fighting exists for the sole purpose of giving giant killer animals a big hug.
...Which is probably not a good lesson to give to kids, but let's ignore that!
Anyways. Episode 2. Iroha became Cure Friendy and got to hug an ostrich. Komugi helped. We also had a quick talk about how the rabbit Daifuku could totally outrun Komugi if they wanted to.
Also important, the sheep rescued from episode 1 has revealed the basic plot, and also told them to keep all this stuff secret! ...The next episode trailer shows Satoru the token unlucky love interest and Daifuku discovering it, and the next episode is essentially named "DON'T GIVE IT AWAY!"
Yeah, as always, the Precure inability to keep a secret continues.
Also we get an indication that Komugi was a rescue dog. Makes sense, considering Iroha's family runs a vet, but it's appreciated that they note that kind of thing nonetheless.
Also of note: The only thing Mayu doesn't appear to be shy about is... talking about Yuki, of course. They haven't even joined the main party and Yuki's not even capable of being human yet and already the ship is strong... I mean, I wouldn't ship them if I wasn't pretty sure they were going to become Precures eventually, but still.
...I mean, I ship everything, so.
...Anyways, Ancillary stuff! In spite of 20 seasons of Precure, there is not a single character with a February birthdate! ...Makes sense, since that's inevitably when the season's going to start, and having a character birthday thing in the first month of so seems kind of early, but eh.
