Small rant - one of the most infuriating things i'm noticing when selecting shops for events is when they start claiming it's a 'clique' because they didn't get in.

Sometimes, I wish I could tell them where they need to improve. Because it's not a 'friends only lol' problem. It's a 'how you look next to others also trying to get a limited spot' problem.

The other infuriating thing is when someone's opinion isn't popular, and randoms arguing back enmasse are suddenly not people with their own thoughts and opinions. Magically, it's 'a clique' or 'oh no they sent ppl at me'.

The common issue for all of this is the lack of self reflection, i feel.

But dealing with these people is just disheartening

yeah, I have occasionally seen people saying certain events are “only the organizer and their friends”, which honestly is just silly, who has that many friends?

are my friends in my events? yes, if I feel they have a quality product and the customer will want what they have to offer.

but there’s also like literally hundreds of people I didn’t know at all before inviting them to participate.

omgwtfbarb: I barely socialise enough as it is. IDK how they think i am personal friends with all these ppl.

I have a few friends in the events i help with, but ive also guided them into becoming a store with a strong portfolio. Many times, i become friends stores after they participate because i got to learn more about them personally.
