Guy at the Verizon store says there's basically nothing to do except get a new phone or replace the battery (at maybe $250+)

But he says with as little as it is swollen now, there's very little chance of a fire if I don't charge it.

Well, I bought a new battery. If I botch the replacement, I'm not really losing anything except $20

The swelling popped the back case halfway off, so it was easy to just pry it the rest of the way

Now let's just hope this replacement battery doesn't just puff up anyway
