random dumb question out of curiosity: for DWRP games that are members only (read: where even viewing posts is restricted to members only), when you drop a character, are you immediately locked from ever viewing the stuff you wrote when you were in the game again?
if so......how do you deal with the emotional toll?
I was in a game that crashed and burned that went private; my solution was screencapping everything
honestly i don't delete emails so i just have maybe every RP tag i've ever done still in my inbox
ridiculous to screenshot everything i mean.....i can't even imagine 😭😭
as a curious outsider looking around other games it also just strikes me as weird that i can't peruse through existing logs and whatnot....like i don't even know what the actual game vibes are??
yeah it's tough without seeing them
i suppose i guess from the TDM but that's just.....so weird to me
why are you closed. why are you closing your doors to the public
yeah this is why i personally hate private comms that don't let people view threads
because I LOVE sharing my threads because i am an excitable dog, so i want to show everyone my funny, cute, or sad threads because i love them
yeah, I'm pretty sure... it sucks. I miss my old duplicity threads
what I did when I dropped was I transferred some in-progress threads to my private musebox to finish
but I didn't save some of my favorite completed threads, alas
I should have done that
The game I was in was a forum game that caught alight in drama so I hurriedly screencapped what all my characters had done before bouncing
I don't mind a game comm being closed, I generally screencap stuff and post that if I wanna share a specific thread. Even if its just a smidgen
YEAH this plurk was prompted by me seeing RP links shared on here that i can't look at...i would like to see it 🥺🥺
and i just find myself going back to my old RPs so often that i was like.....i don't think i could bear to lose anything......even my cringiest stuff
yeah I'm with you. I like to see what sort of synergy a game has! it's soo dependent on current players/plots that a tdm won't be able to demonstrate
I actually messaged the duplicity mods a couple of years ago and said hey, I used to play this character here and I was just wanting to reread a couple of threads, and they were really nice about it and gave me access to the comms for a few days, and I saved every page of my threads as a pdf so I could just open it up and read everything again at my leisure
but that obvs only works if you've 1) been in the game and 2) the mods are nice about it
yeah!! they were super chill about it
granted that was in like..... 2021 so idk if the same mods are there or not, but
aw that's nice of them...i still struggle to imagine hoarding like a billion PDFs of threads though 😭😭
i think i would be terrible at naming them too and would have to open every single one every time i wanted to look at something specific
I think for mine I just named them like, the character names and some descriptor and then Part 1/2/3/etc if it was long enough that I'd have to expand comments
so it was like..... "Takumi & Leo - The Dinner Part 1" and I'd be like ahhh yes, the dinner
