Teacher A is very nice and loveabele-like a teddy bear. He shares anything and everything. Has a key b/c he likes to be at work at 6 a.m.
all teachers to complete a tech and tool inventory sheet for classrooms as checkout for end of school checkout in June,
to them say where removable objects will be stored if not returned to library (like laptops, projectors, etc.)
First day back teacher A calls the library and begs me to check his inventory sheet and see if he turned in his projector
he cant find it and hopes he turned it in.
His sheet indicates it is locked in his closet.
He is bummed, we send out emails and ask at meetings if anyone has an encased projector in their room that doesn't belong to them--no.
Principal says school district policy is he has to pay to replace it. He is sad.
In the meantime Cathy finds out his teacher closet had a broken lock that he knew about. Grrrr.
So Friday, teachers that have proj that are not used offer him the use of there s (they are inclusion teachers where the class is equipped
But he is still bummed about cost
So in the last teacher meeting Friday I suggst he visit our school resource officer and ask to view film from the two stairwells...
security cameras, which operated all summer.
He is happy to do that MOnday since it is almost time to go, and that will take some time, but a good idea.
Right before Cathy leaves, he calls to say his projector was returned...by one of our Asst principals...
1) why the AP had it, and 2) why he was not upfront about having it w/o permission? 3) why let this GREAT teacher suffer all week about it?
it was downright evil of the AP to do that. GRRRR.
if he would have returned it had he no heard Cathy suggest viewing the sec cameras. Hmmmm.
agrees! Did he go into teacher's room and TAKE it?
if he went through all the teachers' rooms, finding broken locks...
but at least someone figured out I had information (view cameras) to she when it was taken and possibly who took it.
great job of keeping track of your items
cathyjo via security cameras. I tried to get former district to implement cameras but NO. They
were fandalized by students one evening after I had left the district. No security cameras or alarms. SO much for protecting their 1:1.
oops, I should have checked my spelling....vandalised.
i have typos in my story too....no prob
wow...feel bad for teacher and for you...how frustrating!
lesson learned--check for serial numbers
lesson kearned for him--turn in expensive equipment.
if there are any repercussions for the AP?
i suppose i will find out next week, but i seriously doubt it.
your school can't be so big where he didn't know it was missing. Still wondering how he came to have it. I'd be very wary tching under him!
As an admin (AP is admin) he has a master key. He was also head admin over summer scl, so may feel he had the rt. Im wary now tho.
the right to go into someone's room, take something out of a closet, and not tell anyone? Why wouldn't he go to library for equipment? fishy
I think he probably has the right 2 use the equipment.Afterall, it belongs to the school. However, not to tell that he had it..that's yucky
Ginger I had the same qstn-there were 3 in the lib office downstairs where summer school took place. His normal office is upstairs tho.
Lisa it has left a bad taste in my mouth for sure
terrible to make a teacher go through that. AP probably watched movies at home.
that is what my husband said
