Unless you set them up as staged payments from the start, 30/30/40 or depending on the cost 50/50, works a treat. Then they know no different

AND they can hustle and get payment even if they are a larger beast

ohhh craftapolooza I'm going to steal your brains. I really struggle with businessy stuff!
craftapalooza says

Yeah it can be hard. When you next quote a new client just include it in your terms :-) and make it friendly and don't EVER apologise, just

you don't have to justify being paid for the work you do!!! They can't buy a house or a car without paying for it or any other bloody

service, so why should creative industries have to wait 30 plus days!!!

See, I have no qualms about being matter of fact or firm, it's just I need to learn the little tricks that "guide" people towards paying me!

staged is the only way to go for us little freelancers. But they still drag their feet. Boo to them.
craftapalooza says

yeah it's sucky. We pay our freelancers on delivery :-) and all our other suppliers we pay 30 days. Don't know why businesses drag it out.

craftapalooza remind me to become one of your freelancers! I wish more companies were like that. I've had to wait 45 damn days and longer.
craftapalooza says

45 days is just plain rude. If they can't afford your services they shouldn't use them or they should be more transparent about their terms.
krissyb says

it was lovely to find out that they wanted to pay 45 day terms AFTER the contract stipulating my terms had been signed and sent back. Grrr
craftapalooza says

Yeah nice
