I agree with TheSockKnitter if only to help explain the chart. I like both but can use either.

Which begs another question . . . do you think most knitters want a just the facts sort of pattern or do they want to be educated by it?

I find charts and schematics more preferable to written instructions, especially line by line instructions (but people tend to like those)

I like patterns organized so there is minimal flipping between pages. Group similar stuff together if possible.

I like patterns that describe a stitch then say work in pattern for x cms. (Again not a fan of lots of line by line - but in the minority)
