I have always wondered that myself... for me, it feels like losing part of a 'battle' or being weak with someone.

But really, it is just diplomacy, and it makes everyone semi-happier in the end, I think?

exactly! feels weak/conceiting! but i guess semi-happy is better than 1 angry and 1 happy.
