for just 400k and god knows how much taxes, we could life there!

where those houses were, she's guessing the South Shore.
There were mansions where I used to live that went for like $500-600K, because it was an area where rich people *used* to live.
i thought it was kinda cheap for big houses on so much land and so close to NYC.
The north shore is where old money and wanna be old money lives. The south shore is mostly working class.
Cumilative taxes probably total to more than the house does - in S. Florida two years ago, our old house had taxes igher than the mortgage.
well if i ever get a chance im for sure going there. lived in nyc two years and never did.
