Tried Awesome. Didn't like it. No menu, and I don't like tiling.

Tiling is super effective when you are used to it. You can do almost anything with keyboard

And it's very extensive - you can customize virtually anything with Lua

And, yes, yes, there is a menu

If you are using awesome 3.0 it is activated by logo in top left corner of the window
