I had one other issue in that my teacher's Macs couldn't play the .avi in quicktime but mine could. 3 choices that I found

1. import to iMovie and transfer to quicktime

2. upload to zamzar to transfer from .avi to .mov but it loses much resolution this way

3. use Quicktime Pro and transfer it from .avi to .mov within quicktime itself. Favorite way!

check out that blog post. If it's a short video, visualhub (eval version) will convert, longer try mpeg stream clip

Visual Hub didn't work - tried it! No worries LOVED how easy Quicktime Pro was to use!
