then I drove south near Salem OR in the Cascade foothills to Silver Falls St Pk. Made it with 5 min to spare for the ranger hike at 2pm

We visited the South Falls and heard 'legends' about the flora/fauna and park history.

Waterfall was cool--177ft high and you can walk behind it. Some of The Last Mohicans movie was filmed at some of their 10 waterfalls.
