I actually feel dumber after reading celebrity gossip news. Its mental but I do feel some physical reaction to fluff. Weary shoulders.

interestingly, i subscribe to PEOPLE magazine, but not for the celebrity gossip. i like hearing real stories about real people

i think it would be cool to have a magazine dedicated to real people and ignore the celebrity stuff

celebrity goss doesn't require you to use your brain so some might use it as a form of relaxation.

Also it holds the promise of a 'better life' of glamor/fame/wealth so I can see why its attractive to the masses.

good points. I think some people just like browsing such mags in waiting rooms or on a train, sort of as "mind candy" & an easy distraction

no interest in celebrities whatsoever, and doesn't let anything about them interfere with his day.
