I can't help but wonder about the causes of things, and how they relate. its an interesting conundrum...
Is there a purpose to commercials that doesn't relate back to the shows they break up?
and I thought the point of commercials was to relate to the people who watch shows, not the shows themselves
that may be the intended purpose of commercials but they are specifically targeted to those who watch those shows
so the actual content of the show will determine what commercials will be breaking it up
like advertising one of the SG1 movies during the show.
Hmm, I don't know. I think there's a disconnect between "content of show" and "who is watching the show." Because who is watching...
is different than who is *predicted* to watch
that being, I'd say that while the content of the show determines the actual watchers, commercials target predicted watchers
a good point, there is certainly nothing to say that those choosing the commercials know what they are doing.
but even the attempt of commercials is to line them up with the viewers, either predicted or known. The content of the show still matters
the disconnect must certainly be recognized. it will be what provides a reason for people to undergo studies to attempt to narrow that gap
you're saying since the only information they have to go on for the commercials is the content of the show, that must determine them?
I'd say that network and channel play a role too. Fox plays more risque commercials than CNN. SciFi can play scifi commercials even if...
another good point. That would seem to indicate that its not only the current show that matters but the compendium of shows on that channel
and also the tenor of those programs in tghe case of Fox news
of course many weird factors involved. I bet it differs per location too!
... wait, maybe not. *wonders if that is possible*
