naw, nothing like that. gotta help the little ones with their stuff
yes, i am a teacher . . .no it isn't mass chaos (ok maybe sometimes)
thankfully that hasn't happened! Controlled chaos is an excellent way to describe it.
cafeteria has kids k-12 in it for lunch. I work with k-3 (reading teacher)
Dani76 I do Jump Start, Quickreads and math intervention for the school district
cool!! i use quickreads very often. My kids love them - i learn so many cool little facts, I love them too!
do you have computer version or use books?
we have both but i focus on the book version - you?
I usually have 6 students at a time,so the computer version.
What kinds of reading material do you work with?
I teach 7th grade English and know little about what younger ages are expected to know.
I use a variety of materials - the district i currently work for hired me through Reading First - are you familiar?
No ... at least I don't think so.
I ask because my "real" role is as a "reading intervention specialist" I test and then assess where the problem is and then "fix it"
Reading First is funded by Bush
do you detect the problem through working 1-1 or through testing or both?
I have to test bi-weakly reporting the growth or lack of to the state
very intense on the teachers and students
based on the Reading First program?
What do kids learn through the program? How is it set up?
sort of - Reading First is a program to disperse the funds
Ah - so it's not really a prescribed curriculum, then.
I'm interested in prescribed curriculums and whether or not they really do what they claim to do - hence my curiosity.
i think it lies in the teacher not a program
oh, certainly - and with student need.
where I work, I'm given a list of activities to choose from, though.
I'm even supposed to put in my lesson plan the page # I found it on!
it's okay - I've got a dog to attend to outside - I think he's scaled our fence again. Nice chatting with you!
