There is actually an APA way to do it, Google APA and website and see if you come up with anything.

I generally do, but I write a blog about my area of research (and I am an academic). Some folks just put a link to the articles.

I would suggest that you include enough info that someone else who isn't in our class could find or access the item you are referencing.
