it's true, there's not a huge reward, but we just wanted to prove that Plurkers on a whole are a very powerful community
we have helped show
amix and the other A-Team members what happen when you leave the community to itself
amazing things can happen from the smallest discussions on here
if anything let this whole thing show to Plurk that if two people can organize this whole thing, what can you do for Plurk?
what does it matter if theres a huge reward? The badge is cool and its great that this whole contest brought the community plurk together!
i can answer their emails cos i've emailed them like crazy but never got a single answer. that's what i can do for Plurk.
simple badge with amazing word >> 'Mr. Plurk'
The title itself is a reward already.
totally confused...perhaps some particulars would explain this more clearly
didn't understand the contest, didn't understand the criteria for the winner; now is baffled as to what this particular plurk page imparts.
is it because the plurker has a lot of fans?
are you a power broker in the plurk community?
i think the contest is rather unfair to those with closed profiles but actively plurk. that's my opinion.
I didn't really even know about the contest
and then thought plurkers were electing a *Miss Plurk* and a *Mr. Plurk* which seemed kind of ludicrous to a lot of plurkers...
so I guess it depends upon which part of the plurk community you are referring to.....
and THEN, after I commented on the contest (while it was apparently in process...the judging part anyway) I lost karma....hmmmmmmm
competition and believes it is healthy....
but it is good to know what the rules are and how one participates....to keep things fair and preserve clarity....
so that it is possible for all to participate.....
not simply those in the inner circle
if there's a Mr. and Ms. Plurk contest in Italy, maybe it's a better idea to hold the contest for each country first before going global
this is just an idea to avoid jumbled-up voting like the one you had
if it was in a blog of some sort?
a whole huge segment of plurk missed this and the Italy one as well...
it is good that plurk is aware that not everyone even knew about the contest....
EdwardJPax so does Plurk have anything to say in this contest if you don't work for Plurk? I mean do they endorse it?
i'm asking out of curiosity
i see. just so you know, Plurk is very popular in my country and i think contests like this should be held to find out just how popular
i understand that this first contest might have had its loopholes, but hey, it's a good thing so u guys can do better next time
maybe the A team should officially endorse the contest so Plurkers will think it's really legit n participate more.
well, this is first contest, isn't it? hope next contest will be better. i mean, each country.
if the A-team refers to *Amix*?
can you direct me to a URL for this blog?
also if this (unnamed) blog contains explanation of winning criteria...
or did everyone on the A-team simply like this particular plurker's page the best (without articulating the reasons)?
yea i think there should be some standard set cos there are plurkers out there who are smart n engaging but overlooked
Boy Astig...are you an employee of plurk?
well yes, but it will make things easier to tally, no?
as an artist, an art promoter and an art professor, I can tell you that anything visual has to have aesthetically pleasing qualities....
and plurk is an absolutely genius and gorgeous concept.....
simply confused as to why certain plurkers are deemed more successful (mo' bettah) by what appears to be a plurk judging process....
curious and intrigued...and a bit annoyed...
and if the A-team was chosen by plurkers...how come so many of us didn't get included in the process?
oh the issues of a democracy...haha
plurk may be trying to reinvent the wheel?
EdwardJPax i am also a huge fan of Plurk -not Twitter, but i hv to agree w
griffonage that some ppl might use this just to be popular...
and not use Plurk as it was intended
griffonage: The A-team are the creaters of plurk. Their werent chosen or elected
really? i think Plurk is more than just a popularity vehicle. it's supposed to be something to engage people in discussions, no?
EdwardJPax: Dont worry there was nothing more you could do. People just always want to blame someone else. They didnt bother to read the
the reason i think you needed to do this by country is that there are some great non-english speaking plurkers who plurk interesting stuff
announcement so it was their own fault.
so there is no blog or web page which disclosed criteria or explained the contest, before it got started?
you people actually already know how to do this......
and that is why i think as much as unbiased this competition is, there's still room for major improvement
griffonage: The rules and an explanation on the contest was linked to on the
starplurker page before the contest was properly started.
Just because you cant be bothered to look around doesnt mean you can criticise the contest
You were told about the contest through an announcement from Plurk Buddy. Then if you would have bothered to read that announcement
you would have been able to go to the page and read all about the contest and the rules.
yahhh.....right!!!
there is an attitude of condescension and exclusiveness emmanating from the responses here...
who would want to take part in something which functioned like that?
*bothered* to read it...bothered to read what? Where?
i appreciate the work and stuff, however, i wished you wouldn't sound so defensive here
EdwardJPax. it's only natural for us to react
how can i change my layout?!?
the Plurkbuddy announcment made the contest sound like a beauty pageant. It specifically mentioned "good looking" Plurkers.
I objected to that at the time, and was directed to the correct page
I found the criteria for voting as well as the process for voting confusing.
I don't understand how the voting process could possibly be confusing...
As far as
*where* to read about the contest, I found out about it in one of
matthewhughes's plurks. It was not clear otherwise.
It was literally just a poll on a website. you made one selection. WHat is so hard about it?
It took a while to find the link to vote. It was not obvious.
I think some folks are seeking clarity, and others think it's already clear.
The voting links, plus explanation and rules could all be found on the
starplurker page Pretty simple to find.
Not initially. I'm not a genius, but I'm not a complete moron either.
I don't think Plurk Buddy did you guys any favors.
Diao.
EdwardJPax: what is that? kind of plurk community?
oh i see, i will be next CPA then
EdwardJPax, I am proud of you for answering and reanswering and re-re-re answering queries over and over again. I admire your patience and
how you deal with people. We did our best and I am proud of it.
never expected it to turn into something so huge, and managing it when we both live in different countries with timezones such that our day
and night don't coincide and we still pulled it off. Thank you Plurkers for supporting us
No thank you to those , who spammed us, those who don't care to read what stares them in the face, and those who act like martyrs.
since it's our first time doing something like this, I think we did a great job, definitely we learned a lot and can improve it the next
For what it was, I think you guys did a pretty fine job. and it was quite clear what it was: an UNOFFICIAL plurk EXPERIMENT.
I can see why some people might not dig the concept, but then they can choose not to be a part of it. It's that simple
I didn't hear about it until someone mentioned in a plurk of mine that they had nominated me. I looked, and it was explicitly clear.
Hear, hear! I just hate to see people raggin on you all the time for doing nothing more than having fun on plurk!
I didn't know of the contest (and wouldn't be interested in the first place) but I don't think the 'contest' deserved the backlash it got
as TheBadMonkey says, we are free whether we want to take part in things like these or not
good luck for next time
