What is Plurk?
A really snazzy site that allows you to showcase the events that make up your life, and follow the events of the people that matter to you, in deliciously digestible short messages called plurks.
How does Plurk work?
It's easy. First, sign up. It takes 10 seconds. Then, just post new plurks which tell us what you're doing, or how you feel, or what you're thinking or anything else for that matter and it'll appear on your timeline. You can tell us on the site, through instant messaging (stuff like MSN or AIM) or by text messaging us an update. Be sure to invite all your friends and see what they are up to throughout the day, it will make Plurk that much more fun for you.

What's my timeline?
Your timeline is your home screen and where you'll spend 99% of your time on Plurk. It allows you to easily view and scroll from left to right using your mouse or keyboard as plurks are created by you and your friends throughout the day. It gives you a clear view into what everybody is up to recently and lets you stay caught up on what your friends are doing.
What's a plurk?
A plurk is a small message or link, less than 140 characters, that you can broadcast to the whole world, your buddies or just yourself over the web, through instant messaging, and through text messaging on your mobile phone.
What are qualifiers?
Qualifiers are yummy color coded words which are commonly used by our members to start plurks. They make it easy for you to identify different types of plurks visually. So you can easily tell what someone <feels>, or <thinks>, or <loves> or <was> doing.
What's freestyle plurking?
Freestyle plurking is a way of plurking without qualifiers. We don't want to limit your creativity so you can plurk as you please if you choose not to use the color coded qualifiers. These are great for our older or more expressive users.
How to turn text into a link?
The secret formula is http://yourlink (text). For example, try to copy and paste the following text to your plurk box:
http://yahoo.com (yahoo)
What's a simple plurk?
A simple plurk is one where you haven't selected any advanced options by clicking on the 'more options' tab below the Plurk box. Simple plurks can be shared with the whole world, your friends and friends of friends, just your friends, or to just yourself.
What's an advanced plurk?
An advanced plurk allows you to add extra bells and whistles to a simple plurk. You can segment your audience by clique or friends, plurk about something that you did earlier in the day, or ask one of your friends what they're currently up to.
How do I delete my plurk account?
Go to 'My Account' and you will see a bright red button that says 'Delete Account' at the bottom.
Can I change my account name/url?
Unfortunately, nope. But you can always register a new account with a different email address.
How can I share images, Youtube videos and other media on Plurk?
When you plurk a web address that ends with .gif, .jpg or .png (for example: http://photobucket.com/image/cat/erinstevens34/cat.jpg), Plurk automatically generates a thumbnail image for you. The same happens when you plurk with Youtube's embed url, such as: http://youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0
Are my plurks visible to the whole world?
By default, a simple plurk is only visible to your friends. However, you can change who can view your simple plurks by going to the privacy option (top left, 2nd link) or you can send a plurk to a clique or a smaller group of friends by using the 'more options' tab.
What is a clique?
A clique is just that. It's a way for you to define a smaller audience amongst your friends who share something in common. Maybe 5 of your friends play on the same soccer team, or maybe 3 of your friends work at the same company or maybe 7 of your buddies go for beers and wings every Monday night. Cliques help you manage your audience so that you can send plurks to only the friends who need to be notified.
How do I add someone as a friend on Plurk?
Just click the little 'add to friends' button on the middle right of another users Plurk page. Your friend will receive an alert on their Plurk page and an email. When they confirm your request, you two are then friends.
Can I unfollow someone? Can I prevent someone from being my fan? Can I block someone?
Yes, you can do all that in 'My Friends'. Second link to your top left.
How do I use Plurk from my mobile phone?
You can visit the mobile version of your plurk page by going to http://www.plurk.com/m.
